Stephanie Andrews, of Toledo, has joined the GEM Energy team as a solar project coordinator.
Barbara Eldredge for Curbed: Imaginative architect and designer Carlo Ratti has had some bonkers ideas over the past year, including an exercise-powered gym barge and a mile-high skyscraper park. But his latest project is on the sunnier side of feasibility. Literally. The Sun&Shade is a light-reflecting canopy made of mirrors that automatically rotate to catch the sun’s rays and fling them at a photovoltaic panel, “located a safe distance away.” This generates clean electricity up top while cooling the shaded area beneath. A working prototype of the mirrored structure just debuted at Dubai’s Museum of the Future as part of its “Reimagining Climate Change.” Cont'd...
Whether mechanical, ultrasonic or laser wind measurements: all measuring methods have technical limits. While for mechanical wind sensors the measuring element - cups and vanes - itself predominantly produces a disturbance in the flow field, for ultrasonic anemometers a disturbance can be caused by the sensor holder or housing construction. Only optical methods, e.g. LDA (Laser Doppler Anemometer), enable a disturbance-free measurement of wind speeds. However, for this particles are required and such devices are very expensive and difficult to maintain.
The First Law of Thermodynamics states that energy cannot be created or destroyed. It can, however, be transferred from one location to another and converted to and from other forms of energy.
Our findings show that industry experts are optimistic about the pace of innovation in the low carbon space, and shed light on which technologies will have the most impact on the sector.
he Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) is honored to present both Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) and Rep. George Holding (R-NC) with the prestigious SEIA Solar Champion Award, an honor bestowed upon entities or individuals who have helped strengthen solar power in America.
The awards will be held in Dallas, Texas on 10 April 2017 as part of the world leading 9th Annual Wind O&M Dallas 2017 Conference & Exhibition.
Fraunhofer TechBridge launches SunRISE Challenge II in partnership with DSM and Greentown Labs, seeking innovations in solar energy
For solar energy to reach grid parity and become cost competitive with fossil fuel-based generation on a global scale, it is necessary to reduce the LCOE of solar PV.
World Patent Marketing Invention Team Announces The Solar Powered Heated Roof, A Home Invention That Prevents Snow From Building Up
World Patent Marketing Reviews A New Home Invention. Will Solar Powered Heated Roof Be The Next World Patent Marketing Low Cost Success Story?
The ees Europe Conference, which is being held on May 30 and 31, 2017, will accompany ees Europe for a third year, with this year's Conference Program highlighting a new area of interest: the automotive industry. The mobile storage system sector is booming, and several panel discussions are dedicated to topics such as automotive battery technology or vehicle-to-grid. Prof. Dr. Werner Tillmetz's selection as the conference's second chairman underscores the importance of this topic for the organizers.

After prices hit the plateau in the previous weeks, polysilicon prices decline slightly this week as overseas polysilicon prices witness minor downward corrections. In overseas markets, as some stock pressures and liquidity needs still hang over some American producers and traders, some polysilicon dumping are still taking place, while Korean polysilicon suppliers have hold the prices firm. On the other hand, polysilicon prices in China remain stable this week. As the room for further price hike is unlikely and the demand in the downstream is not as strong as anticipated, the Chinese polysilicon suppliers have become more conservative in terms of pricing.
With shared expertise in designing, permitting, building and optimizing solar energy systems for agricultural operations, SunLink Corporation and CalCom Solar have successfully completed three solar projects in Shafter and Wasco, Calif. - the first in a larger Central Valley portfolio of installations.
Victor A. Patton for Sacramento Business Journal: A solar module factory expected to bring more than 200 jobs to Sacramento is slated to begin production in mid-September at McClellan Business Park. It will be the first U.S. factory for Nanjing, China-based solar cell and module manufacturer China Sunergy Co, who on Thursday announced its subsidiary Sunergy America has agreed to lease a 140,000-square-foot manufacturing building — previously a plant where J.C. Penney made window coverings. Simon Szeto, a Sunergy advisor, said the company will bring around 20 management staff from overseas and will hire other employees locally. The work being done at the factory will include putting together the modules. Each module includes a solar cell, an aluminum frame, tempered glass, cables and a junction box. The completed products, which can be placed on a ground mount or rooftop, will be sold commercially in the U.S, Szeto said. Cont'd...
For the first time ever, U.S. solar ranked as the number one source of new electric generating capacity additions on an annual basis. Altogether, solar accounted for 39 percent of new capacity additions across all fuel types in 2016.

You haven't installed a tile mount that is easier to install than the Solar Tile Mount manufactured by TRA Snow and Sun. Solar Tile Mount is used on all tile roof profiles: flat, mid, and high. It is made in the USA of aluminum alloy for strength and excellent corrosion resistance. Solar Tile Mount is built to allow more ease in installation with more rise from the tile surface to the rail for better air flow below panels. The adjustable base is longer than most allowing attachment 6" to the left or right to have the bracket in the base of the pan of the tile and still fasten to the rafter. Solar Tile Mount is adjustable for counter batten systems from ¾" to 3". The horizontal rail is directly above base fasteners giving greater uplift resistance than any other system. For superior waterproofing apply TRA Snow and Sun's butyl backed VersaFlash aluminum flashing. No tile flashing is needed on top of the tile for greater labor and material cost savings.
