Business Perspectives and the Impacts of COVID-19 - Q&A with SolarEdge

SolarEdge Technologies shares with us its thoughts on how they are managing through the pandemic as well as insights into what the future holds with manufacturing and the solar supply chain.

Lithium Ion Battery Technology

The rapidly growing demand for alternative energy production and energy storage systems has created an important need for high-performance lithium-ion batteries.

Better Buildings, Better Plants

The Department of Energy's intention behind the showcase project is to have leading companies create "blueprints" of their energy saving tactics that are actionable by a broader set of US companies. By creating an aggressive goal for a single facility, it affords a focused experience of what it takes to achieve that goal. We plan to be transparent in our actions in order to create these repeatable solutions for other companies.

The GreenVolts Integrated Solar System

Our modular system scales easily for distributed loads, such as irrigation pumps on different parcels of land, to large, centralized loads for commercial, industrial, and utility customers.

Altenergymag Interview With AMtec Solar

AMtec Solar has applied its 25 years of experience in the Semiconductor, HVAC, Pharmaceutical, Alternative Energy, and Industrial Control markets to the solar industry. The produce solar combiner boxes, re-combiner boxes, tracker panels, MET stations and DAS boxes for some of the biggest names in the solar industry.

AltEnergyMag Interview - 3 Leading EcoCAR Challenge Teams

We got the opportunity to interview the three leading teams in the EcoCAR Challenge namely Mississippi State University, Virginia Tech and Pennsylvania State University. These are the future leaders in the alternative energy transportation industry and it shows in their enthusiasm.

Intersolar North America

Intersolar North America, taking place from July 13-15 in San Francisco's Moscone Center West Hall, promotes the development of business opportunities throughout the U.S. solar industry. More than 570 U.S.-based and international exhibitors and 20,000 trade visitors are expected.

Carbon Emissions and Energy Issue in the Transport Sector

Jack Short is the Secretary General of the International Transport Forum. He is also the Director of the Joint OECD/ITF Transport Research Centre, which was set up in 2004. He joined the ECMT in 1984 and was Deputy Secretary General from 1993 to 2001, when he became Secretary General. Previously he worked for the Ministries of Transport and Finance in Ireland, as well as in transport research.

Batteries for Alternative Energy Systems

The most common mistake made when sizing battery banks is not having accurate load information. If manufacturer's data is not available for a particular load, steps should be taken to measure actual power use instead of making a guess. Small mistakes can have a big impact, causing the end user to eventually lose power and potentially require a replacement battery bank sooner than expected. Since most battery based renewable energy systems are off-grid and all power will be generated and stored on-site, it's critical that the designer understand the nature of the loads the system is designed to run.

Small Wind Industry - Nick Blitterswyk, Urban Green Energy

Urban Green Energy is a world leader in small wind energy, focused on providing high quality, high performance, and attractive products to customers around the world. UGE's products include vertical axis wind turbines and hybrid streetlamps.

AltEnergyMag Interview -Thermal and Hybrid Solar Collectors

With the Volther Solar hybrid collector, production of both electricity and hot water is done simultaneously. In PV modules, as the module temperature increases, the efficiency of the module drops down. In hybrid modules, the module heat is absorbed in order to produce hot water. In this way, PV efficiency is optimized as the heat is transferred into water for hot water production.

AltEnergyMag Interview - Sanyo North America Now and in the Future

Aaron Fowles is the Specialist of Corporate Communications for SANYO North America Corporation's Regional Offices, based in San Diego. In this position, Mr. Fowles oversees all public relations activities, including media relations, strategic planning and implementation for all North American regional companies.

Interview - 20% Energy from Wind by 2030 - A Reality Check

A discussion about the future of the wind energy industry and the goal of 20% Energy from Wind by 2030

Interview - Clean Coal Power Plants

GreenGen and GoodSpring are based on the TPRI technology so they have some common traits that are unique in the industry. Record setting levels of cleanliness in acid rain causing gasses, mercury, and particulates should allow both facilities to reduce those major emissions by about 99% or greater when compared to the average coal power plant in the USA.

Interview - Community Winds Coming of Age

One of the major benefits of Community Wind projects is that they provide incremental jobs, wages and business income in communities, since ownership is retained and profits are recycled locally. In addition, the community has a significant amount of control over management of the project and there are opportunities for members of the community to have a direct financial stake in the project.
