INTERSOLAR and looking ahead to 2020 - Q&A with Solar FlexRack

Q&A with | Solar FlexRack

Tell us about your company.

Solar FlexRack (SFR), an innovative leader in utility and commercial solar tracker and mounting solutions, is the renewable energy division of Northern States Metals. SFR is committed to providing ultra-reliable solar mounting technologies which are easily and cost effectively assembled and installed on-site. Every solar project has unique characteristics depending on their geology, topography, and climate of its site location. Solar FlexRack has developed and field-proven solar mounting products, along with tested and streamlined internal processes, to initiate custom designs for any project situation. Their seasoned engineering, geotechnical and project management teams have delivered world-class project services for over ten years.

Your company will be exhibiting at Intersolar North America, what is it that makes this an important event for your company?

Solar FlexRack doubled its business in 2019. Its growth is attributed to the advancement of its solar tracker technology, the ease of installation of its products, their dependable performance and the world-class support of the company’s project services. SFR has moved into an expansion mode and is poised to continue expanding into 2020 and beyond.

Intersolar attendees can meet with SFR sales and engineering teams at Intersolar. They will also see our TDP 2.0 Solar Tracker with BalanceTrac and Fixed Tilt Racking on display. They can schedule a private viewing/meeting with our team at http://solarflexrack.com/newsroom/events/.

What makes your booth a must visit for Intersolar Attendees?

What’s most important to attendees is the opportunity to meet with the Solar FlexRack team members one-on-one. SFR representatives are industry professionals who in many cases have over a decade of in-the-field solar knowledge and experience. This is the secret sauce that safeguards developers, epcs and utility-scale installers from costly errors on projects.

Plus we will have the TDP 2.0 Solar Tracker with BalanceTrac, along with our tried and true Fixed Tilt Series G3-X on display. We will also have a presentation on our Cast In Place, Pre-Cast and Ballasted Solutions.

Intersolar has many educational sessions, forums & Demo’s, is your company involved in any of them this year?

Solar FlexRack will have several informative video displays presented in the booth of both our solar trackers, TDP Solar Tracker and TDP 2.0 Solar Tracker with BalanceTrac. We will also have a presentation running on our Fixed Tilt and Cast-In-Place Ballasted Solution.

When you get a chance to walk the exhibit hall floor yourself, what is it you will be most interested to see?  Any educational sessions, pavilions etc. you plan on attending?

We will probably be attending sessions that address new technologies in solar power generation and those that are pushing efficiencies like the session scheduled for Thursday morning on PV Manufacturing. Obviously, we’ll be watching the technological advancement of trackers (another session on Thursday morning).

We will also follow projections for the coming years on the solar market in general and how the political arena is expected to play out.

What are you projecting for 2020?  Do you see more growth or turmoil ahead for solar and the economy?

We’re bullish on the next year and are confident that unless something crazy happens in the marketplace, we will continue on this growth trajectory. Solar will continue to grow across sectors as battery storage technology improves and costs drop. We think this is an incredibly exciting time for solar energy and we are going to continue to see large-scale transition to solar in our lifetime.

What are the biggest challenges facing the solar industry in 2020?

On our side, we’re in execution mode. It is to stay as consistent as possible and maintain our attention to detail - that is so important to our clients and their projects.

The one area of concern is any new tariffs which the government may impose.

Do you think the solar industry is in a good position to grow through what may be a bumpy next few years?

Yes, we think the solar industry is in a great position to grow. The economics of solar are so strong at this point and we’re seeing utilities and private businesses adopt solar technology at an accelerating rate. We are proud to be part of this amazing transformation from dirty fossil fuels to clean renewable energy.
