Tigo Releases New Rapid Shutdown Transmitter for Integrated NEC 2017 Compliance

Tigos new UL-certified RSS Transmitter compliments the TS4-F (Fire Safety) for the most cost-effective residential and commercial Rapid Shutdown solution

Tigo®, pioneer of the smart modular Flex MLPE platform, today announced its new RSS (Rapid Shutdown System) Transmitter to complete its cost-effective rapid shutdown system architecture when paired with TS4-F (Fire Safety). Tigos RSS Transmitter accompanies the UL-certified TS4-F (integrated) and TS4-R-F (retrofitted/add-on) solutions. Tigo is currently taking orders - contact sales@tigoenergy.com for more information. Consult your preferred PV supplier for the TS4-F integrated solution. To learn more, join Tigos live RSS Webinar on November 14th at 10am PT.

The RSS Transmitter sends a signal to the TS4-F units to keep their PV modules connected while powered on and supplying energy. TS4-F units automatically enter rapid shutdown mode when the RSS Transmitter is switched off and resume energy production when power is restored to the RSS Transmitter. This solution complies with U.S. National Electric Code (NEC) article 690.12 specifications for 2014 and 2017 and supports the SunSpec-defined signaling for rapid shutdown with power-line communication (PLC). The TS4-F units and RSS Transmitter require no commissioning process.

Highlights of the RSS Transmitter include:

Meets NEC 2017 690.12 requirements
Module-level deactivation with TS4-F and TS4-R-F
Automatic or manual shutdown with TS4-F and TS4-R-F
Supports SunSpec signaling
Easy installation
No required commissioning process
Compatible & certified with many residential & commercial inverters from multiple suppliers
Available for integrated and retrofitted/add-on PV installations
"Providing a UL-certified transmitter to complete our second TS4 System Architecture solution for rapid shutdown has been Tigos largest contribution to safer solar," says Zvi Alon, CEO at Tigo. "Tigos RSS Transmitter is the only SunSpec keep-alive device for rapid shutdown with PLC in the solar market today. We are excited to be shipping and certifying with a large number of tier one inverter manufacturing partners by the end of the year."

Tigo and its many partners contributed expertise to solar standards with SunSpec Alliance. SMA, Fronius, ABB, Chint, HiQ Solar, Ingeteam, Kaco, Sungrow, and Yaskawa Solectria and others are among UL-listed PV inverter manufacturers that will be compatible with Tigos RSS solutions. Tigo continues to expand its compliant inverter portfolio with many partner brands for its customers.

Tigo is currently taking orders for the RSS Transmitter - available as a Kit, DIN Rail, or PCBA. Parker KleenVent provides closed-loop solution for wind turbine cooling systems

Parker KleenVent provides closed-loop solution for wind turbine cooling systems

Many 1.5 MW wind turbines use traditional open-loop water/glycol cooling systems. Regular water evaporation in the reservoir elevates the mixture's viscosity, prohibiting cooling of the IGBT and associated critical controls, causing the wind turbine to overheat unless serviced, which in turn means turbine downtime and high maintenance costs. Parker's KleenVent Coolant Evaporation Inhibitor (KV-CEI) is a simple add-on to the legacy cooling system, that eliminates water evaporation in the coolant solution and stops the ingress of airborne contaminants, by enclosing the cooling loop. The KVCEI also removes the need for continuous coolant monitoring during the warm season. Traditional maintenance calls to replenish or rebalance the fluids, take the wind turbine and transformer offline, resulting in significant downtime and revenue loss. Parker's cooling system solution optimizes wind turbine uptime and revenue, reduces maintenance costs and increases overall efficiencies.
