Rianne 't Hoen

Rianne ’t Hoen works as senior consultant in the Energy Storage team of DNV, she supports customers in making technical decisions about battery energy storage system projects: market focus (geographically and applications), technical design and risk assessments. Her focus is on the knowledge field of renewable energy, energy storage, battery safety, storage business case calculations and workshop & trainings. Rianne contributes through project realization, market studies, technology assessments, independent project evaluations and technical research in the role of technical consultant and project manager. Rianne is chairman of the Dutch normalisation committee NEC 21/35 cells and batteries.

Jan Willem Zwang

Jan Willem has over 20 years of experience in the energy market and worked for some of the larger utilities. Early 2020, Jan Willem sold his previous companies Greenspread and Greencrowd to private equity concern NPM Capital. Since his departure in October 2020, Jan Willem works as an independent consultant at Stratergy. Stratergy advises funds, banks, utilities, and large consumers and producers of energy and specializes in maximizing asset value and minimizing financial risk.

Ruud Nijs

I’m Ruud Nijs, the CEO of GIGA Storage. I’m a former banker with ABN-AMRO and Rabobank. I was responsible there for the intercompany payment infrastructure set up and with Rabobank I have set up the sustainability department. In-between the 2 banks I was leading the Europe and Mid East desk of an artificial intelligence company – Nasdaq listed and San Diego based - focusing on neural networks. After leaving Rabobank I was entrepreneur for 10 years, in the board of some regional investment funds and assisting small and medium enterprises to search for funding. In 2017 I met Maarten Quist and Lars and never left. Jointly we started GIGA Storage.

George Hilton

Dr. Hilton joined IHS Markit (now S&P Global) in 2020 and has eight years of experience in the clean energy sector. He focuses on clean energy technologies in Europe, Middle East and Africa and has a particular interest in how energy storage integrates with other industries. He has recently published work on recycling, energy storage for EV charging, vehicle-to-grid technologies, second life batteries and the use of batteries in hydrogen production. He leads the global forecast for energy storage. He has published articles in multiple well-respected journals, responded to government calls for evidence on energy storage and electric vehicles (EVs), and has been quoted in a range of media outlets. Dr. Hilton holds a first-class Master of Engineering degree in mechanical engineering and a PhD in energy engineering with a focus on energy storage integration with renewable energy and EV infrastructure, both from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom.

Wijnand van Hooff

Wijnand van Hooff has been active in solar energy since 2004, initially in the field of research and technology development for solar PV cells and modules and since 2011 in a role as coordinator and stimulator of research, development and innovation projects for the Dutch solar energy sector. In 2017, Wijnand joined the board of Directors of Holland Solar, the industry association of the solar energy sector in the Netherlands, and in 2019 he was appointed as the General Manager of Holland Solar. Holland Solar focusses on promoting solar energy in the Netherlands, representing the solar energy sector.

One the current themes he is working on, is how to allow Battery Energy Storage Systems access to the electricity grid through a regional connection to support the energy transition, without causing local congestion.
