Northern California Organic Farm Installs 17 KW Photovoltaic Array

This February, installation was completed on a 17 KW photovoltaic array at the Full Belly Farm in Guinda, California.

This solar power system consists of 90 Kyocera KC-187 PV modules, mounted on a south facing barn. The array will provide for most or all of the farm's electrical needs. Excess power produced will be fed back into the PG&E electrical grid.

Full Belly Farm covers 180 acres and has been in operation for over 20 years. They are well-known across the state for their wide assortment of high quality organic fruits and vegetables.

In addition to the solar modules, the system includes three SMA Sunnyboy inverters and a UniRac mounting system. It was supplied by Sierra Solar Systems of Grass Valley, California and installed by Jerry Shafer of Affinity Energy in Winsor, California.

About Sierra Solar Systems: Sierra Solar Systems was founded in 1980 in Nevada City, California. Since that time, Sierra Solar has provided several thousand solar electric and solar hot water systems nationwide. They publish a nationwide mail order catalog and have an extensive website.
