DayStar Technologies Outlines Path to Achieve Gigawatt-Scale Production of Solar Cells ...

DayStar Technologies, Inc. announced today availability of a white paper on its Web site.

HALFMOON, N.Y., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- DayStar Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: DSTI) announced today availability of a white paper on its Web site which demonstrates how CIGS solar cell technology on flexible metal substrates can be an alternative to silicon-wafer-based solar cells and how CIGS technology can be uniquely scaled up to large factory production volumes because of strong advantages in capital cost, manufacturing throughput and yield.

The paper details how DayStar's CIGS based Photovoltaic Foil(TM) can reach Gigawatt-scale manufacturing using a continuous inline process, ultimately reaching estimated costs at approximately $1 per watt at the system level due to efficiencies and economies-of-scale.

The authors also call for vertical integration of production operations, examining a "solar city" concept that integrates each element of the supply chain in a single factory setting.

The White Paper, presented by Dr. John Tuttle, CEO, DayStar Technologies, in Barcelona, Spain, at the recently held 20th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition, can be found at http://www.daystartech.com/gigawatt .
