June 12, 2007 (Rohnert Park, CA) Copeland Creek Affordable Senior Apartment Homes reopened its doors with newly remodeled facilities and environmentally friendly solar energy systems. The new multi-family affordable housing complex features solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on each of its residential buildings and laundry rooms, totaling 86 kW in size, as well as solar hot water systems with high-efficiency on-demand water heaters, and solar pool collectors. The solar electric (PV) systems were designed and installed by SPG Solar, Inc. of San Rafael, CA.

After purchase by the Reliant Group, an investment group focused on acquiring affordable multifamily housing, Copeland Creek Apartments was converted into affordable housing for seniors and underwent major remodeling including re-landscaping, re-roofing, and re-painting of all buildings and interior re-models of its community buildings such as the club house and main office. Implementing environmentally friendly measures was a priority for the Reliant Group. "Solar photovoltaic has been a good investment at Copeland Creek. It is rewarding, both financially and environmentally. We are proud to be leaders in the growing movement implementing renewable energy strategies in affordable housing," said Chris Flynn, Asset Manager for the Reliant Group.

"Copeland Creek has been an exciting project to work with, not only due to their commitment to the environment, but also the commitment to the community by providing affordable housing to seniors. Over a 25-year period, the solar PV systems installed at Copeland Creek are expected to displace over 4.7 million pounds of greenhouse gas emissions," said Dan Thompson, President and CEO of SPG Solar.
