Cenex To Host Low Carbon Vehicle Technology Exhibition

Loughborough, 5th July 2007 - Cenex, the UK's first national centre of excellence for low carbon and fuel cell technologies, is hosting a one-day exhibition and seminar on Low Carbon Vehicle Technology, at the Leeds United Football Club, Elland Road, Leeds, on Friday 20th July.

The conference, to be hosted in partnership with the Leeds City Council, is based on promoting the reduction of transport CO2 emissions that support the Draft Climate Change Strategy for Leeds. Leeds City Council, together with Cenex, are investigating a number of options to reduce the CO2 impact of its fleet, such as the 'hybridisation' of its Transit van fleet and the conversion of some of its local bus fleet to diesel hybrids.

The event will be opened by Councillor Barry Anderson from the Leeds City Council and chaired by other Council Members. Robert Evans, CEO, Cenex will speak about the role of Cenex in the low carbon automotive sector. Andrew Whittles, Project Development Manager for Cenex, will be discussing strategies for improving fleet emissions. With vehicle demonstrations throughout the day, there might be opportunities to test drive hybrid and electric vehicles and demonstrations, and discussions of other benefits associated with low carbon technologies, such as reduced air pollution and engine noise.

Speaking about the event, Robert Evans, CEO, Cenex said: "The exhibition will bring together some of the industry's most respected figures in an intimate networking environment and will provide an unmatched opportunity for environment policy-makers to discuss the future uses of low carbon and fuel cell automotive applications.''

The event will further help maximise the effectiveness of the Low Carbon and Fuel Cell Technology Knowledge Transfer Network (www.lowcarbonfuelcellktn.org.uk) by promoting communication and knowledge transfer between the many organisations interested in alternative automotive fuel applications.

More information on the conference can be found at: www.cenex.co.uk. On behalf of Cenex, we would like to invite you to attend the exhibition and seminar. If you would like to register or require further information after the conference, please call Sue Glanville/Aakriti Kaushik on 020 8971 6423/6424 or email sglanville@saycomms.co.uk/akaushik@saycomms.co.uk

Note: Please remember to bring your driving licence if you would like to test drive any of the vehicles on show. Motor and personal accident insurance will be provided by the exhibitors. If there is sufficient interest, a free bus service will operate from Leeds Station to Elland Road during the early morning and mid-afternoon. LG Solar Unveils NeON R with Enhanced Aesthetics and Energy Savings

The NeON R module features "Back Contact" cell technology delivering an entirely black panel that is aesthetically pleasing and energy efficient. The cell's seamless, surface blends perfectly into nearly all rooftop designs while the module's electrodes are positioned on the rear of the cell. Using LG's N-type cell structure, the panels produce 365W of energy, up to 7.3kWp, compared to 5.8kWp of the p-type cell. The module's new design minimizes LID, thereby delivering a longer lifespan and increased energy output.
