Assemblymember Nancy Skinner gives Boots on the Roof a Thumbs Up

California Assemblymember Nancy Skinner gave her support to leading solar training provider, Boots on the Roof, when she made a highly anticipated visit to their corporate office in Fremont, CA.

Fremont, California-- September 15-- California Assemblymember Nancy Skinner gave her support to leading solar training provider, Boots on the Roof, when she made a highly anticipated visit to their corporate office in Fremont, CA. While standing in front of a large group of students, she spoke frankly about the need for a ‘green' economy, and the potential for growth.

Assemblymember Skinner of the 14th district is a driving force in the campaign for all things environmentally friendly and has been actively supporting the ‘green' economy since she first served on Berkeley's City Council. This includes her initiation of ‘green' economic strategy and Berkeley's 1988 ban on Styrofoam, which became the first of its kind and a milestone for environmental campaigns. As a freshman legislator, she was named Chair of the Natural Resources Committee and she continues to drive ‘green' legislation. Her visit emphasized the importance of including solar technology in the country's future infrastructure development. Renewable energy jobs supported by training programs such as Boots on the Roof are giving people a way to overcome what Skinner describes as, "the biggest budget deficit since the Depression."

Assemblymember Skinner stated "The green economy is one of the areas across the country that is seeing more growth than others," which makes Boots on the Roof and other ‘green' educators a catalyst to solving the current economical crisis. The ‘green' economy is the new economy, and professionals with the right education will be the key beneficiaries. Boots on the Roof and other ‘green' training providers are helping to build a foundation on which to live our lives with the highest quality possible.
