SUSTAINABLE ENERGY'S "SUNERGY" INVERTERS CERTIFIED FOR NORTH AMERICAN MARKETS

Advantages of Parallel PV System Architecture with an Industry Standard Form Factor Canadian-Designed and Canadian-Made Inverters Ideal for Emerging Ontario Solar Market

Toronto, Ontario - January 26, 2010 - Sustainable Energy Technologies Ltd. (TSXV: STG), ("Sustainable Energy") today announced that its SUNERGY LV (low voltage) and SUNERGY ELV (extra low voltage) inverters have been certified and listed by the Canadian Standards Association ("CSA") to UL 1741 and CSA C22.2 No.107.1-01 standards, making this innovative technology commercially available for sale and installation across North America.

The CSA/UL certified products target the North American commercial market with a 208 volt AC output, peak conversion efficiencies in excess of 96%, and a nominal 5,000 watt power output. Follow-on products will include different power ratings and a 240 volt AC output for residential applications.

The SUNERGY inverter platform is ideal for the Ontario market. With an outdoor power rating ranging from minus 40 to plus 50 degrees Celsius, the SUNERGY inverters are easily integrated into rooftop solar systems, reducing installation and ongoing maintenance costs associated with indoor rated inverters.

Sustainable Energy's patented technology lowers the operating voltage of solar PV systems to household appliance levels, eliminating risk of serious injury to installers, emergency personnel and members of the public who come into accidental contact with a live solar power plant.

"Designed and manufactured in Canada, the SUNERGY inverter platform is one of Canada's most significant contributions yet to expanding the use of solar power around the world," said Brent Harris Vice President of Product Development. "For the first time ever, the performance, cost and safety advantages of a massively parallel PV system design are available with an industry standard from factor. Achieving certification for the North American market marks a key milestone in our efforts to make this technology available globally," added Harris

The SUNERGY LV and ELV products are based on a standard power electronics and software platform which supports multiple product offerings with a range of power ratings and voltage outputs for both European and North American markets. This is a proven manufacturing model that enables a lower direct manufactured cost and lower operating cost structure.

Sustainable Energy's SUNERGY inverters are changing the way in which solar PV is installed. The SUNERGY inverter is the first to enable extra low operating system voltages for solar PV systems with an industry standard from factor, making it the ideal solution for commercial and public sector facilities such as schools, shopping centers, office complexes and recreational areas where public safety is a priority.

Using SUNERGY's parallel system architecture, solar PV systems can now be installed and maintained by mainstream building trades, eliminating the need for PV specialists and significantly lowering installed costs. The system architecture also increases total system power output between 5 percent and 15 percent, delivering a greater return on investment for a wider range of installation sites.

About Sustainable Energy: Sustainable Energy (www.sustainableenergy.com) designs, manufactures and distributes power inverters for grid-connected solar PV systems. Advanced power inverters are a critical enabler of all modern solar PV power systems converting the direct current ("DC") power output of the solar PV modules into the high quality alternating current ("AC") power required by the power grid. Advanced power inverters also optimize the performance of the solar PV modules and maintain the integrity and safety of the interconnection with the power grid.

In rooftop applications, the extra low operating voltage of the SUNERGY platform enables a system architecture that is inherently safe and that can be installed and maintained by most building trades without the need for PV specialists, significantly reducing the installed system cost and increasing investor yields.

In ground-based applications, multiple SUNERGY inverters offer higher system yield, less downtime and easier installation and maintenance, than larger "central" inverters. For these reasons, multiple smaller inverters like SUNERGY are increasingly displacing central inverters in European ground based applications - where system performance rather than name plate capacity is the driver.

Sustainable Energy's technologies are the subject of multiple patents issued by and pending with the US Patent and Canadian Patent Offices.
