SolarCity Opens Additional Operations Facility in Phoenix

Building on Success of Solar Phoenix Program, City's Largest Solar Installer Opens New Office in North Phoenix

PHOENIX, Ariz., March 8, 2010—SolarCity®, already the largest solar installer in Phoenix, today announced it will open an additional operations facility in the northern part of the city to accommodate increasing installation volume. SolarCity plans to hire 20-30 new employees to staff the office in the next few months. SolarCity has completed or undertaken more than 1,000 solar projects in Arizona since it opened its first Phoenix office in June 2008, which currently supports 55 employees and more than a dozen installation crews.

"We've run out of space in our existing installation facility to handle the demand for new solar projects in the area," said Peter Rive, SolarCity's chief operating officer. "We have 10-15 different installations going on any given day in the Greater Phoenix area, and we're opening the new facility to better handle the volume."

Mayor Phil Gordon will join the company to "cut the ribbon" on the new office at 9:00 a.m. local time on Monday, March 8th. The Mayor's Solar Phoenix program, a collaboration among the City of Phoenix, National Bank of Arizona, APS and SolarCity, is giving Phoenix homeowners an affordable solar option that can allow many families to adopt solar for no upfront cost, and pay less each month for solar than they previously paid for electricity. Solar Phoenix runs through the end of 2010, and there is still plenty of room for new customers. More information, including a signup form, is available at www.solarphoenix.org.

"Solar Phoenix is the largest city-sponsored residential solar program in the country. Not only is this program allowing residents to have solar on their rooftop at an affordable price, but the demand is creating local jobs. We're putting residents back to work and building a green city."
