The LED lighting revolution has produced the first of its kind; a showroom dedicated entirely to LED lighting in the heart of Times Square. The increasing demand for green building products prompted 20-year lighting veteran Randall Satin of 1-800 NY BULBS to create Green Lantern Industries (http://www.nyleds.com). GLI solely trades in LED products that they independently source, sell and specify with regards to light output (lumens) and color rendering CRI. Satin says, "The products are unlike anything we have ever offered before. They are so unique that they require an educational website dedicated solely to what makes them so special. People still did not believe that a 5 Watt bulb could replace a 50 watt one, so we opened a look and touch showroom too".

Green Lantern Industries products offer energy efficiency and energy conservation through LED solutions. As light bulbs are the common denominator of every home and office a "better bulb" has limitless potential.

"Our eco-friendly LED solutions are designed to maximize savings while minimizing the overall environmental impact of building operations," said Alexis Smagula, Vice President of sales for GLI in Times Square. "In developing this new series of 4th and 5th generation premium LED products, we are committed to helping clients seamlessly transition into the next generation of green lighting technology. Our LED products have been specifically crafted to be the exact size, shape, color and brightness of traditional light bulbs".

Among GLI's LED bulbs are LED MR16s, LED A Lamps, LED R20, LED PAR20s, PAR30s and PAR38s- all selected to perform well in any space, significantly reducing utility costs, as well as one's carbon footprint.

To address the aesthetic deficits in current energy efficient lighting, GLI employs a group of experienced and dedicated lighting designers and professionals. "We are a lighting company with a focus on technologies and energy savings but we are also not an ESCO [Energy Savings Co.). We always put integrity and the aesthetics of lighting first without compromise," says Smagula. "We want to fill a huge void in the lighting industry with our ability to design and market state-of-the-art LED lighting solutions".

Switching from a traditional halogen, incandescent and compact fluorescent to LED bulbs can have a tremendous impact on ones utility bill and ultimately the environment. GLI's LED bulbs can last up to 60 times as long as traditional bulbs, cutting energy consumption by as much as 90%. Green Lantern's LED alternatives eliminate lamp heat, drastically reducing air conditioning and HVAC loads, making them a further asset to burgeoning operating costs.

"Right now business owners and management companies are really focusing on how they can save money in the long term". Mr. Satin spoke further on one large bank group that his company has worked with. "They were using 85Watt BR-30 Lamps but our LED BR-30 Lamp is only 15Watts and yields a comparable light level". That translates into a savings of over $116.00 a year per bulb in the areas where they are operating 24-7. This lamp was also rated for 50,000 hours compared to only 2,000 hours for the existing 85W BR-30, lasting 25 times as long. "When you start to do the math it just makes financial sense" he adds.

GLI offers energy consultations and energy savings calculators and tools on their website http://www.nyleds.com to help consumers and commercial clients assess where they can make savings. By promoting products via direct sales and on the web GLI is further able to offer their premium products 30-50% less than similar LED bulbs.

"Becoming green and reducing your carbon footprint is becoming more and more important," says Ms. Smagula and a trend that she hopes to see continue with the Government providing more financial incentives. GLI is so confident in their new LED retrofit line that they offer a "no questions asked" return policy on their exclusive products if they do not meet or exceed expectations.
