Industry giants Schneider Electric and EDF EN Canada Inc. a powerful combination in Ontario

Schneider Electric's Renewable Energies Business announced today they were awarded another 30 Mega Watt (MW) contract with EDF EN Canada Inc. This contract is for EDF EN Canada's new solar photovoltaic (PV) projects: St. Isidore and Elmsley, outside Ottawa, Ontario Canada.

Burnaby, BC, July 13, 2010 — Schneider Electric's Renewable Energies Business, global specialists in energy management and solar power plant design, announced today they were awarded another 30 Mega Watt (MW) contract with EDF EN Canada Inc. This contract is for EDF EN Canada's new solar photovoltaic (PV) projects: St. Isidore and Elmsley, outside Ottawa, Ontario Canada.

"This is the second major contract Schneider Electric has won with EDF EN Canada," says Rudy Wodrich, Commercial Vice President, Schneider Electric, "Our teams worked extremely well together and we are confident our integrated PV solutions and highly adaptable system will be a great fit for these projects."

With multiple large-scale solar installations on the go across the country, EDF EN Canada, a company that develops, builds, operates and manages state-of-the-art renewable energy projects, was in need of a reliable source of inverters, coupled with expertise and a collaborative approach.

It was their previous experience with Schneider Electric and its products that lead EDF EN Canada to award Schneider Electric the 30MW contract. On completion of these projects, which call for Schneider Electric to provide PV Boxes, inverters and SCADA solutions, Schneider Electric will have more than 90MW of utility-scale solutions installed in Ontario. This will be one of the largest MW installed base in the province.

The first time the companies worked together was at Arnprior, on the Western side of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, a project that required Schneider Electric to provide inverters and a monitoring system. Schneider Electric's Renewable Energies Business had been involved in similar projects on a smaller scale in Europe, using its PV Box, but this was a first for Schneider Electric within the North American market. Schneider Electric recommended its PV Box solution to EDF EN for the Arnprior project as the comprehensive all-in-one unit makes the system quick and easy to connect and operate.

Schneider Electric's Renewable Energies Business leads the world in developing, manufacturing and marketing advanced power electronic products and systems for renewable markets. These sophisticated products convert and control raw electrical power from any central or distributed, renewable source into the high-quality power required by the electricity grid.
