Archstone, a leader in apartment management purchased clean electricity for its 12 New York City and Brooklyn apartment communities from Green Mountain Energy Company (GME). GME is the only electric services company (ESCO) in New York focused solely on cleaner energy.

Archstone expects to purchase renewable energy from U.S. sources to match 100% of its usage at these facilities, Archstone will offset an estimated 19 million pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2)."Green Mountain applauds Archstones leadership in purchasing a cleaner electricity product for its apartment communities in New York City,"said Scott Hart, President of Commercial Services, Green Mountain Energy Company.

This renewable energy purchase further helps Green Mountain accomplish its mission to change the way power is made.

"Their power consumption or purchasse of renewable energy will be 14,621,564 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of renewable energy from Green Mountain Energy Company over the one year. The purchase is for the electrical usage at the 12 Archstone New York City apartment communities. Kipp & Zonen - DustIQ the novel soiling monitoring solution for solar panels

Soiling of the panel glass is one of the major problems in the rapidly expanding solar energy market, with the attendant loss of efficiency and reduction in performance ratios. Now, there's a new, simple and very cost-effective alternative. Based on Kipp & Zonen's unique Optical Soiling Measurement (OSM) technology, DustIQ can be easily added to new or existing solar arrays and integrated into plant management systems. The unit is mounted to the frame of a PV panel and does not need sunlight to operate. It continuously measures the transmission loss through glass caused by soiling, so that the reduction in light reaching the solar cells can be calculated.
