LOWER COST AND MORE EFFICIENT SOLAR CELLS DEVELOPED

Silicon-Germanium Cells Drive Down Costs in Latest Patent

RENO, Nevada - (IP-Newswire) - The patent developed by SENERGEN DEVICES which advanced less costly solar cells with an increase in efficiency in delivering kilowatts has been published by the U.S. Patent Office and the WIPO. "These two valuable patent applications will be sold as a single lot on our worldwide auction site," said Joseph Popolo, CEO of IpAuctions™. "We don't often get the opportunity to market such a valuable patent pair," he added.

This conversion of silicon or silicon-germanium directly to poly-crystal films uses a thermal plasma chemical vapor deposition process or by a thermal plasma spray technique. Using the heat treatment process, the photovoltaic cells have a substantially higher efficiency and at a low cost with a high throughput.

"The levelized cost for solar electricity fell to as much as $160 per megawatt hour in 2009 globally", said Jenny Chase, head of solar research at New Energy Finance. "It's incredibly exciting. The price of photovoltaics has plummented this year and we see that opening up new markets that wouldn't have made sense before," she added.

GreentechSolar said the major solar energy markets are European countries, such as Germany, Spain and increasingly Italy, as well as the U.S. and Japan.

Both the U.S. Patent Application 2008/0023070 and the WIPO Pub. No. WO/2008/013942 will be sold as a single Lot is scheduled for auction from November 2nd thru the 5th. The complete patent details and links to the U.S. PTO and WIPO permit due diligence with complete online access to both filings. The WIPO indicates the patent application was listed with the European and Japan Patent offices.

RBI Solar - Dahlia Has You Covered

What if you could maximize the Ground Coverage Ratio (GCR) on your next project and not have to worry about the complicated variables that come with a tracker system? With a low tilt and clearance design, Dahlia® has the highest GCR of any fixed-tilt system in the marketplace. The system is available in three tilt options (7.5, 10 and 12.5 degrees) and designed to accommodate any sized PV module. The lightweight system is engineered with fewer components, several of which are shipped to job sites pre-assembled. This design feature reduces freight costs and rapidly trims the amount of on-site installation time required to complete construction. Maximizing PV coverage on a site can lead to an increase of production, which creates greater financial return for project owners. Over 100 MW of Dahlia® projects have been deployed across the United States, in regions of variable snow and wind loads. How much can Dahlia® cover and save you on your next project?
