NRG Systems Introduces Ultrasonic Wind Sensors

Hinesburg, Vermont (USA) – NRG Systems, manufacturer of measurement systems for the renewable energy industry, announces the introduction of its new line of ultrasonic wind sensors that measure wind speed and direction using sound waves. The NRG Systems IceFree Ultrasonic Wind Sensor, designed for turbine control applications, carries a 240-watt heater in a rugged aluminum body for all weather conditions. Two additional models are polycarbonate – ideal for turbine control in moderate climates or wind resource assessment.

"We are pleased to offer a comprehensive line of ultrasonic sensors," said Laura Goodfellow, technical sales account manager for NRG Systems. "They provide real-time, accurate data, and have no moving parts for minimal maintenance. By pairing ultrasonic and mechanical sensors for turbine control, wind farm operators can ensure redundancy and benefit from both technologies."

NRG Systems' ultrasonic wind sensors have a flexible, factory-configured interface to meet customer specifications. Various signal outputs are available for easy integration with most turbine controllers.

"By adding ultrasonic sensors to our product line, we are able to provide customers with more options, helping wind farm owners and operators deliver more power more of the time," added Goodfellow.

NRG Systems ultrasonic wind sensors, backed by NRG Systems' technical support and warranty, will ship via surface freight free of charge starting in November 2011. Information requests and orders can be placed by contacting 802-482-2255 or sales@nrgsystems.com. The company offers three lines of turbine control sensors: the ultrasonic wind sensors, the IceFree Hybrid™ XT, and the Classic unheated #20H and #40H sensors.
