Vital Indian PV manufacturing challenges to be addressed in August

The PV Manufacturing Summit India (1-2 August, Delhi) will tackle competitiveness, performance, policy and investment problems as a critical industry meeting.

Since the announcement of the National Solar Mission (JNNSM), in conjunction with state-level policies, India now offers the PV industry thousands of project megawatts that need supplying. Recent research showed that the race to meet installation deadlines triggered a surge of PV installations in India from Q4 2011 until now. The total Indian market could reach the monumental 1GW milestone of installed power by the end of 2012.

However, there are still numerous challenges as the manufacturing industry struggles to progress at the same pace as project development. The PV price pressure created by oversupply has hit Indian PV particularly hard, and there is no strategy in place for overcoming this barrier. The manufacturers are waiting for support from the Government, looking for policies that will secure their future and guarantee growth.

In response to these now-or-never challenges, PV Insider have created the inaugural PV Manufacturing Summit India. A first class line up of 30+ speakers has been created, who will have the answers to these challenges. International module manufacturers such as First Solar and SCHOTT Solar will join Indian heavyweights such as BHEL, Solar Semiconductor and Moser Baer.

The official perspective will be presented by Tarun Kapoor, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Government of India, who will address the critical issue of local content requirements as part of a keynote panel.
