CSP stakeholders join forces to grow US energy market share

Senior level executives of the Concentrated Solar Power Industry in the US are gearing up to meet and engage in live debate with policy makers from across the South West US and respective agencies at CSP Today USA 2012 Conference & Exhibition on June 27-28 in Las Vegas.

The delegate list boasts an impressive 450+ attendees and organisers predict this is set to reach around 600 delegates on the day.

Stephen Wiley, SVP of U.S. Project Development, BrightSource Energy is speaking at CSP Today USA because ‘BrightSource Energy have so far been one of the companies at the forefront of CSP development in the United States and I want to ensure that our experience is shared globally – CSP Today USA is a great place to do that'

In the panel session that I am participating in, delegates will learn how BrightSource responds to the rapidly growing needs of the electric power, petroleum and industrial-process markets with technology capable of producing the world's highest temperature, highest-pressure solar steam – which in turn yields higher efficiencies.

Edward Randolph, Director, Energy Division, California Public Utilities Commission has stated that the role of CPUC in the CSP industry is' important and instrumental in helping the Californian CSP industry move forwards – with the right support, this technology could play an important role in in California's clean energy future.

In my session, I'll be providing the Californian perspective on the landscape of policy in California. Delegates will come away with a comprehensive overview of how to capitalise on existing support mechanisms and be part of the drive for future support.'

All stakeholders have a role to play in communicating the value of CSP in the US energy market and Lawrence E. Jones, Vice President, Regulatory Affairs, Policy & Industry Relations at Alstom will give a key presentation on the essential elements of CSP integration. Lawrence said ‘Delegates will come away with new ideas as to how to communicate CSP's unique selling point to decision makers.'

The current projects in construction will be discussed in depth and Kevin Smith, CEO of Solar Reserve has stated that ‘delegates will learn about SolarReserve's flagship project, the Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Plant, which is a major success story for the CSP industry and for the US. Specifically, delegates will learn more about how we overcame significant hurdles in the development of the project, as well as how we educated the utility on the value of CSP with storage, to develop the world's largest plant of its kind, using technology developed right here in the US."

The expert speaker line up of 60+ will be sharing their experiences and provide the industry with a deeper understanding on how to develop a winning strategy to get competitive and secure a greater stake in the CSP industry.
