PowerWay mounting solutions to be showcased in South Africa this September
Powerway Renewable Energy Co. Ltd, the biggest manufacturer of mounting structures for utility scale PV plants and the largest independent developer in China, has announced today its sponsorship of the PV Project Development Summit South Africa, taking place on 3-4 September in Johannesburg.
Working in conjunction with the South African government's BBBEE program, Powerway recently announced its plan to invest ZAR 30M to set up production facilities in Kimberley and De Aar, creating over 2000 jobs for the local population. These manufacturing facilities will localise the production of the companies Powerfit, PowerScrew, and PowerTracker products, and will also train the local workforce to manufacture these state-of the art technologies.

Mr. Benson Wu, CEO of Powerway, told PV Insider that the company "is pleased and very proud to be given the opportunity to participate in the new solar boom in this emerging market, and is ready to invest in the technology transfer needed to contribute to the local economy. This investment program is estimated to be completed in six months, and then we will be able to accommodate over 4000 employment opportunities for the local people and to supply mounting structures for over 500MW of solar farms per year".
Wu went on to say that "we have set up our own technical team ready to support this endeavour and I am happy that we have been awarded 50-75 MW jobs already for mounting structure supply for newly announced PV projects in South Africa".
PowerWay will share their latest technological advances in PV mounting structures at the PV Project Development Summit South Africa, to demonstrate the cost reduction opportunities for projects in this region. They are also set to shed light on the advantages of localising manufacturing in South Africa, showing how this will increase local content targets under the IRP and create jobs.
