Canadian Solar Participates in PV Project Development Summit in Johannesburg

Canadian Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: CSIQ), one of the world's largest solar companies, participates in the PV Project Development Summit South Africa 2012 in Johannesburg on 3-4 September.

At the summit Canadian solar, a leading module manufacturer, will inform about its high quality and high performance module portfolio and about photovoltaic solutions designed for African markets such as the Andes Off-Grid Solar Home System.

Canadian Solar is a leading vertically integrated provider of ingots, wafers, solar cells, solar modules, solar power systems and specialized solar products. The company manufactures and delivers solar products and solar system solutions for on-grid and off-grid use to customers worldwide. Canadian Solar's all-purpose PV modules are suitable for all types of solar applications from large-scale solar farms to residential and commercial rooftop systems. So does the module type CS6P-P (230-250W), a high-performance module featuring amongst others positive power tolerance (0 ~ +5W), a robust frame to up to 5400 PA load, anti-reflective with self-cleaning surface, outstanding performance at low irradiance, high energy yield at low NOCT, a 10 year product warranty on materials and workmanship and a 25 year linear power output warranty. The same features apply to Canadian Solar's MaxPower CS6X-P (285-305W) module. It's designed for utility, commercial, and rural area applications. Due to its larger size, increased p
ower, and performance, MaxPower cuts balance of system costs per watt by maximizing tracker and racking space.

Canadian Solar is constantly committed to developing products that are relevant to local markets and has designed the Andes Solar Home System, an economical off-grid solar power solution providing clean electricity to homes and communities without access to a stable grid or for emergency power supply in blackout situations, specifically for the African continent. The product is light in weight and easy to set up. Compared to diesel generators, the Andes System is highly reliable and not subjected to fuel price fluctuations, does not produce pollutants, runs quietly and requires little maintenance.

Jos van der Hyden, Vice President and General Manager, Africa and Middle East of Canadian Solar, said that "the PV Project Development Summit is a great opportunity for us to extend dialogue with energy business leaders in South Africa and present our solar solutions to existing and future partners and customers. We are very pleased to be part of the development of the solar energy market in South Africa, as we strongly believe in the great potential of photovoltaic in the country and its ability to significantly contribute to the energy mix in the future."

Canadian Solar emphasis quality and efficiency in its product line and has therefore implemented stringent quality control management system in all its module production plants. Throughout its module manufacturing process, it has 253 quality control points from incoming material components to production procedures. The final stage EL screening eliminates product defects. Canadian Solar modules are PID free and salt mist and ammonia resistant. The low normal operating cell temperature (NOCT) improves its module performance as confirmed by its PTC rating in California. To further protect PV system customers, Canadian Solar has been offering 25 year warranty insurance since 2010. The warranty insurance policy is underwritten by three reputable insurance companies with AM Best rating of "A" VIII and above.
