Vivint Solar Ranks as One of Hawaii's Fastest Growing Solar Power Providers

Vivint Solar Ranks No. 2 in the Greatest Number of Photovoltaic (PV) Permits Issued on Oahu -----Hawaii's Residential Electricity Costs Are the Most Expensive Among All States

PROVO, Utah--Vivint Solar™, a leading provider of simple, affordable solar solutions, today announced it is one of Hawaii's fastest growing solar photovoltaic providers.

Within the past four months, Vivint Solar ranked No. 2 in the highest number of photovoltaic (PV) permit applications issued on Oahu this past summer by the Honolulu Department of Planning and Permitting. From May through August, Vivint Solar was the designated contractor on more than 800 PV permits issued by the department. On Maui, 54 PV permits were submitted with Vivint Solar as the designated contractor during the same period.

"As electricity bills continue to consume a greater share of household income, Vivint Solar is committed to offering the people of Hawaii a long-term and affordable electricity option," said Tanguy Serra, president of Vivint Solar. "Hawaii has exceeded our expectations and we look forward to a life-long commitment in serving this market."

In addition to offering energy savings, Vivint Solar is creating jobs for the local economy. Since entering the Hawaii market in May 2012, Vivint Solar has hired more than 40 people on the islands of Oahu and Maui.

"What I liked most about Vivint Solar is that it didn't cost me anything up front, and I saw immediate savings on my monthly utility bill," said Vivint Solar customer Nicholas Fidelibus of Ewa Beach, HI. "I received a solar quote from a different company a few years ago that came in at $32,000. With Vivint Solar, I didn't have to spend thousands of dollars to enjoy the benefits of solar energy. And everyone who contacted me from the company was courteous, friendly and professional."

Hawaii's average residential electricity costs (37 cents per kilowatt hour) are the most expensive in the nation, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. With Vivint Solar, Hawaii residents have a choice in a money-saving, clean and renewable alternative to power their home.

Vivint Solar customers save money on energy through the company's power purchase agreement (PPA), in which customers agree to purchase the power their solar panels generate at rates significantly lower than their typical power bill. In exchange, Vivint Solar designs, installs and maintains the system for free, allowing customers to enjoy the benefits of renewable solar energy without a large, up-front investment.

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide - the ultimate solution for fast and easy installation of the rail-less RockIt racking system on composition shingle roofs. Smart Slide conforms to UL 441 and TAS 100 (A)-95 for wind and wind-driven rain, providing a super-strong watertight seal that is achieved through compression, in most cases without the need for additional sealant. The waterproofing sealant is embedded deep into the granules of the shingle, thanks to the integrated flexible foam layer that provides cushioning. This ensures a secure fit that conforms to any architectural-style shingle. With UltraGrip Technology™, you can rely on a secure installation, as it absorbs the movement created by thermal expansion and contraction. The pre-installed sealing pads are compatible with all composition shingle roofs, making it the ideal choice, even in ambient temperatures as low as 5 degrees.
