BayWa Taps Signal Energy to Build New Mexico Wind Farm Before Year End

Signal Energy was awarded the design/build contract from BayWa in September and construction began in October.

Chattanooga, Tenn. –– Signal Energy Constructors, a major design/build general contractor providing engineering, procurement and construction services to the North American renewable energy industry, was recently awarded a full design/build contract from BayWa r.e. Wind LLC for the Brahms 20 megawatt wind farm. The project is currently under construction and is scheduled for completion before the end of the year. Brahms is located in Grady, New Mexico, 25 miles outside of Clovis.

"Signal Energy's commitment to building in-house expertise in the most critical areas of utility scale wind construction enables us to take projects, like Brahms, from design to completion with great efficiency and superior quality," said Ben Fischer, CEO of Signal Energy.

A critical area of utility scale wind construction in which Signal Energy provides in-house expertise is preconstruction value engineering. Early stage performance of this value engineering analysis insures projects are designed in a way that maximizes long-term energy production and short-term capital costs for construction without compromising quality. Signal Energy's ability to optimize Brahms' wind project components cut several months off the design/build timeline.

"We have reached agreement with Signal Energy in two and half weeks with construction already underway and the goal is set to deliver energy before year-end. Signal built a number of our projects including last year's Mozart project in Texas. We value the quality of their work and engineering expertise," commented Florian Zerhusen, CEO, BayWa r.e. Wind, LLC adding that BayWa continuously is looking for projects.

Signal Energy's scope of work includes full design and engineering of all project civil infrastructure, underground and overhead collection systems, wind turbine foundations, project substations and the project interconnection facilities. In addition, Signal Energy will self-perform the wind turbine erection.

Signal Energy was awarded the design/build contract from BayWa in September and construction began in October.

Signal Energy has more than 7,500 megawatts of renewable energy, utility scale project experience.

RBI Solar - Dahlia Has You Covered

What if you could maximize the Ground Coverage Ratio (GCR) on your next project and not have to worry about the complicated variables that come with a tracker system? With a low tilt and clearance design, Dahlia® has the highest GCR of any fixed-tilt system in the marketplace. The system is available in three tilt options (7.5, 10 and 12.5 degrees) and designed to accommodate any sized PV module. The lightweight system is engineered with fewer components, several of which are shipped to job sites pre-assembled. This design feature reduces freight costs and rapidly trims the amount of on-site installation time required to complete construction. Maximizing PV coverage on a site can lead to an increase of production, which creates greater financial return for project owners. Over 100 MW of Dahlia® projects have been deployed across the United States, in regions of variable snow and wind loads. How much can Dahlia® cover and save you on your next project?
