Danfoss Solar Inverters introduces a high performance, reliable Central Inverter Series for utility-scale PV plants at SPI 2013
The Danfoss QLX Central Inverter Series is the most innovative outdoor solution for the utility scale market. It delivers maximum efficiency without derating even under harsh weather operation of up to 50°C. This series redefines high performance in Sunbelt regions.
Utility Scale design for the harshest environments
The new series of utility scale inverters designed for harsh weather regions and has a product range of 1 MW to 1.5 MW. It has been designed with the toughest criteria in mind on all critical components, with a NEMA 4 sealed inverter section. This makes the inverter incredibly robust and reliable.
Maximum efficiency at high ambient temperatures
With this new design concept, the series achieves peak efficiencies up to 98% and works at ambient temperatures from -20°C to +50°C without derating. All of the components remain optimally cooled, due in part to its liquid cooled design for semi-conductors and inductors, which use Danfoss' patented ShowerPower® switching technology. This integrated technology is equipped with speed-controlled fans and pumps to avoid internal pollution and lengthen maintenance intervals - even in dusty regions.
Ease of installation and reduced lifetime costs
The inverter's compact size and weight greatly improve transport logistics. The drop off and start up solution offers quicker start-up time by delivering a fully equipped unit that can be mounted directly to a concrete pad or skid together with a close coupled transformer. Installation can be completed safely and efficiently with designated cabinet functions and quick connections.
Liquid-cooled heat sinks keep the unit cleaner while variable speed controlled fans and pumps help the unit perform more efficiently. The inverter is also equipped with a dehumidifier for water vapor removal.
Innovative communication
An LCD display shows the unit's operating status, and a built-in data logger records and sends performance and operational data. Offering the best in communication capabilities, it allows pyranometer, wind-speed indicator, and temperature sensors to work in parallel. All data is recorded from each unit, stored and transmitted daily via modem or an optional Internet connection.

S-5!® PVKIT™ 2.0 Solar Rooftop Solutions
The concept of combining PV arrays with standing seam metal roofing is growing-for good reasons. Metal roofs have a life expectancy of more than 40 years. Shouldn't the mounting system last as long? With S-5! zero-penetration attachment technology and PVKIT 2.0, the solarized metal roof is the most sustainable system available -and without compromising roof warranties! PVKIT 2.0 is the also the best solution for attaching PV modules directly to any exposed fastener metal roof.
