Eclipsall Building-integrated PV (BIPV) System Installed in Green Building Prototype in Mississauga

Eclipsall installs first building-integrated PV (BIPV) system comprising of a BIPV canopy on the south facade of the building and a BIPV tower on the building structure.

Mississauga, Ontario, Canada November 11, 2013

Eclipsall announced today its first building-integrated PV (BIPV) installation in Mississauga Ontario consisting of a custom designed BIPV canopy and BIPV tower.

BIPV materials are designed to replace conventional construction materials within the outer envelope of a building including roof, skylights, glazing, exterior surfaces and façades. In addition to producing electricity, BIPV installations add structural value and can enhance a building's aesthetic quality and design.

The project in Mississauga uses 30 custom made frameless glass-on-glass PV modules installed and used as a street level canopy along the south façade of the building. Also, there are 7 glass-on-glass modules incorporated into the curtain wall tower on top of the building structure.

"The BIPV market is expected to undergo a significant growth period as more architects incorporate energy production and aesthetics into their building designs" said Les Lyster, President & CEO of Eclipsall. "It is a natural extension of our solar business to develop custom building-integrated solar products to meet this new and exciting demand within green building design."
