Escondido, CA January 17, 2014

Baker Electric Solar, a San Diego solar company specializing in residential solar and commercial solar installations, announced that it can now offer its customers an innovative solar canopy. Attendees at the January 10-12, San Diego Spring Home Show learned about how the canopy generates clean, renewable energy while serving as an aesthetically pleasing outdoor living and entertainment pavilion.

The canopy is an architectural solar structure that blends form and function. It contains photovoltaic solar modules in the roof that provide shade and shelter, while generating power to offset a homeowner's utility costs. The attractive, customizable canopy creates up to 607 square feet additional outdoor living space. With a variety of materials and color options for the fascia, ceiling, beams and columns, it blends with a home's architectural style.

The solar canopy can be used in addition to a home's solar system or as an alternative to a rooftop or ground-mounted solar system. It generates up to 7.32kW of solar energy. The PV pavilion structures come in a variety of sizes: 15' x 14' – 2.44 kW; 7.5' x 27' – 2.44 kW; 15' x 27' – 4.88 kW; and 22.5' x 27' – 7.32 kW.

Benefits of the canopy, in the form of comfort, convenience, savings, and environmental sustainability, are:

*Increases and enhances outdoor living space without increasing carbon footprint.

*Reduces utility costs.

*Supports the environment with clean, renewable power.

*May increase the value of the home based on the additional outdoor living space.

*Integrates seamlessly with home architecture and environment.

Homeowners are encouraged to speak with a Baker Electric Solar sales consultant to discuss if a solar canopy would help them save on their energy bills. The outdoor living solar structure enables homeowners to offset their electric costs with the local utility net metering program, as well as offset their tax burden as it qualifies for the 30 percent federal investment tax credit for solar projects. Baker offers multiple financing options including both zero interest financing to purchase and a zero-down, fixed monthly payment lease.

"We are thrilled to be able to offer a solar canopy to San Diego homeowners. They can now add a beautiful solar pavilion for more outdoor living space while reducing their energy bill," said Baker Electric Solar President, Mike Teresso. "The solar canopy was enthusiastically received at the first of our three home shows. Be sure to come out and talk with us at the Del Mar Home Improvement Show and the Spring Home / Garden Show."

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide

Introducing RockIt Smart Slide - the ultimate solution for fast and easy installation of the rail-less RockIt racking system on composition shingle roofs. Smart Slide conforms to UL 441 and TAS 100 (A)-95 for wind and wind-driven rain, providing a super-strong watertight seal that is achieved through compression, in most cases without the need for additional sealant. The waterproofing sealant is embedded deep into the granules of the shingle, thanks to the integrated flexible foam layer that provides cushioning. This ensures a secure fit that conforms to any architectural-style shingle. With UltraGrip Technology™, you can rely on a secure installation, as it absorbs the movement created by thermal expansion and contraction. The pre-installed sealing pads are compatible with all composition shingle roofs, making it the ideal choice, even in ambient temperatures as low as 5 degrees.
