SolarCity Expands to Delaware & the Eastern Shore

Opening Brings New Jobs to the Region; Delaware and Eastern Shore Homeowners and Businesses Can Install Solar for Free and Pay Less for Electricity

SEAFORD, Del., Feb. 4, 2014 --

SolarCity(R) (Nasdaq:SCTY) is expanding to Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland to
make it possible for many area homeowners and businesses to install solar
panels for free and pay less for solar electricity than they pay for utility
power. SolarCity opened a new, 9,600 square-foot operations center in
Seaford, Del., this week.

SolarCity previously offered limited service in the area from operations
centers in Maryland and New Jersey. The new location will allow SolarCity to
better service Delaware along with the entire Eastern Shore of Maryland.

"SolarCity provides Delaware homeowners and businesses the option to reduce
their utility bills, lock in their solar energy costs and do something
positive for the environment at the same time," said Leon Keshishian,
SolarCity's regional vice president on the east coast. "We can give many
Delaware customers the opportunity to save money from day one by using
cheaper, cleaner solar electricity."

SolarCity is expanding to Delaware in large part due to the efforts of the
state, including its strong support of fair net metering policies and a
cost-effective renewable portfolio standard. SolarCity makes it possible for
many homeowners to install solar for free, and pay less for solar
electricity than they pay for utility power. SolarCity's approach has made
it America's leading solar provider--the company is currently providing
approximately one in every three U.S. residential solar electricity systems,
according to GTM Research's US PV Leaderboard, released earlier this month.

The new operations center in Delaware brings new jobs to the
region--SolarCity expects to fill an additional 12 open positions at the
location in the next few months. Candidates interested in available
employment positions in Delaware can contact SolarCity via its online jobs
form at www.solarcity.com/jobs.

Dynapower - MAXIMIZE PRODUCTION AND REVENUES WITH SOLAR PLUS STORAGE

The addition of energy storage to an existing or new utility-scale PV installation allows system owners and operators the opportunity to capture additional revenues. Traditional storage plus solar applications have involved the coupling of independent storage and PV inverters at an AC bus or the use of multi-input hybrid inverters. An alternative approach - coupling energy storage to PV arrays with a DC-to-DC converter - can help maximize production and profits for existing and new utility-scale installations. DC-Coupled Utility-Scale Solar Plus Storage leads to higher round-trip efficiencies and lower cost of integration with existing PV arrays and at the same time, opens up new revenue streams not possible with traditional AC-coupled storage, including clipping recapture and low voltage harvesting, while being eligible for valuable tax incentives.
