WINDPOWER 2014 arrives in Las Vegas

Las Vegas – The following events are open to coverage by accredited journalists from media outlets. All the below activities will be hosted within the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, 3950 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89119.


Monday May 5:

What: The inaugural DOE Collegiate Wind competition, bringing together teams from around the country to design and construct a lightweight, transportable wind turbine that can be used to power small electronic devices. Teams will be competing from Monday – Wednesday in three different categories. For more information contact Emily Jorgensen with the Wind Energy Foundation.

Who: Ten teams from around the country will compete in DOE's Inaugural Collegiate Wind Competition 2014

Tuesday May 6:

Media event 1:

What: Welcome and opening General Session, followed by media availability with session speakers. Media outlets not in-person at the event can contact Brian Willis for call-in information for the availability.

What: The American Wind Energy Association is hosting a press conference at WINDPOWER Conference and Exhibition, North America's largest wind energy conference, with leaders from Nevada's energy sector, the Governor's Office of Energy and MGM Resorts to discuss the economic and environmental benefits of renewable energy and sustainability.
