Company's High Efficiency Power Systems Selected by Alstom Grid for High-Profile Project; Another Example of Eltek's Growing Power Utility Business
DRAMMEN, Norway--Eltek today announced it has secured a key order for advanced power supply systems for the operation of the DolWin3 off shore wind energy project in Germany.
Eltek equipment will supply secure power to protection and control equipment for the on-shore high voltage DC (HVDC) substation that transfers electricity generated by offshore wind turbines in the North Sea to the German grid.
Deliveries will include DC power supplies, inverters, batteries and associated services. The order was placed by Alstom Grid, a global supplier of power generation, transmission and distribution solutions and equipment. Alstom Grid was awarded the DolWin3 project by transmission system operator TenneT.
"Our teams successfully offered the most recent and highest efficiency power supply technology available in the market, which provided clear advantages in terms of technical features, cost efficiency and reliability," said Lars Dousa, Vice President for Industrial at Eltek. He added, "we are proud of our business achievements, but more so for being technology leaders with advanced solutions compatible with the up-to-date systems found today in substations."
Power Utility Success
An increasing number of power utilities are abandoning the use of older and less efficient DC power systems, and instead are relying on Eltek HE solutions for powering the systems that secure the good operation of the grid. Eltek offers highly efficient, reliable, scalable, compact and modular power supply systems based on switch-mode technology and advanced monitoring.
Eltek's expanding sales in this industry include recent deliveries to utilities in various regions and countries of the world including Brazil, UK, USA, Australia and many others.
