Schneider Electric's Square D Homeline Solar-ready Combination Service Entrance Devices (CSEDs) Help Electrical Contractors Save Time and Energy

Solar-ready CSEDs offer faster installation of Plug-on Neutral Combination Arc Fault (CAFI) and Dual Function Circuit Breakers, and are suitable for use with Photovoltaic system applications.

PALATINE, Ill. - July 30, 2015 - Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management and automation, today announced enhancements to its Combination Service Entrance Device (CSED) offer that provides electrical contractors with time and labor savings for Plug-on Neutral Combination Arc Fault (CAFI) and Dual Function Circuit Breaker installation. The CSEDs also come solar-ready making them suitable for use with Photovoltaic (PV) system applications as required by the National Electric Code (NEC) Article 690.64 and are compliant with California state Title 24 energy efficiency standards.

Engineered for value, the Homeline Solar-ready CSEDs feature innovative split neutrals that allow Plug-on Neutral Circuit Breakers to connect directly to the neutral bar without the pigtail requiring fewer connections, providing faster and simpler installation. The neutral bars are also fully distributed, accepting Plug-on Neutral Circuit Breakers on any space, which helps electrical contractors to save on wire. All Square Ds CAFI and Dual Function Circuit Breakers feature TIME SAVER Diagnostics, which provide circuit information at the touch of a button for easier troubleshooting.

As the need for solar continues to grow, Schneider Electric continues to demonstrate its investment and commitment to product innovation through the development of new solar compatible solutions. The CSEDs solar-ready enhancement ensure that electrical contractors and builders can meet NEC requirements. Additionally, the CSEDs are compliant with the California Building Standards Code, also known as Title 24 that addresses the energy efficiency of new and remodeled homes to reduce energy use.

Additional features and benefits of the Homeline Solar-ready Combination Service Entrance Devices include:

* Line side solar tap - Accommodates field-installable lug kit ahead of the service disconnect to feed a PV system without using a branch breaker space. This offers greater flexibility in the size of PV system that can be integrated, as the back-feed requirements of NEC 690.64 no longer apply. Rather than being limited to a branch breaker amperage less than 120 percent of the bus bar rating minus the main breaker rating, the line side tap lugs accept a wire range of 2/0 - 10 Cu or 2/0 - 6 Al.
* 200 & 225 A rated bus bars - Reduces the need to de-rate the main breaker for back-fed PV systems.
* PV system data monitoring - Provisions for current transformers (CT) on the line side of the service disconnect for back-fed PV systems and generation/consumption monitoring.

The Homeline Solar-ready Combination Service Entrance Devices will be available beginning July 2015 and will be sold through electrical distributors and authorized retailers.
