Solar Frontier Selected for O2 emc's 4 MW Solar Project In North Carolina

The Tolson solar project will be one of the first tracking installations with CIS thin-film solar modules in the state.

Tokyo, December 16th, 2015 - Solar Frontier, the worlds largest CIS solar energy solutions provider, announced today their advanced technology has been selected by O2 emc for a 4 megawatt (MW) project in North Carolina (NC), one of the fastest growing solar states in the U.S. The Tolson solar project will be one of the first tracking installations with CIS thin-film solar modules in the state.

A $10-million-dollar investment, the Tolson solar plant under construction in Edgecombe County, NC, will be equipped with Exosuns advanced Exotrack HZ single-axis trackers orienting over 24,000 Solar Frontier modules towards the sun throughout the day to considerably increase the plants output versus fixed-tilt installations and traditional crystalline modules. Expected to be completed in 2015, the renewable energy plant will generate almost 7 gigawatt-hours of energy per year, or more electricity than 600 average American homes would consume on an annual basis.

O2 emc is an independent power producer headquartered near Charlotte, NC, that focuses on hiring locally. It is committed to maintaining the companys core values of driving jobs, investing in local economies and supporting public education in each project community.

"We selected Solar Frontier based on their solar modules strong performance, quality and commitment to sustainability. That is in alignment with the high construction standards we maintain," said Joel Olsen, CEO of O2 emc.

Charles Pimentel, COO of Solar Frontier Americas commented, "O2 emc is dedicated to maximizing the local impact and profitability of each project they develop. The Tolson solar project will put hundreds of people to work and drive hundreds of thousands of dollars into the local community. Solar Frontier is honored to have been chosen to support this project."

Solar Frontiers advanced CIS modules are a proven technology and generate higher energy yield (kilowatt-hours per kilowatt peak) in real-world environments than conventional crystalline silicon technologies. Manufacturing its modules in fully automated facilities to consistently deliver high quality products, Solar Frontiers solar projects have increasingly gained the attention of investors and project developers for their exceptional performance.
