SolarUS to Highlight Thermal Systems Using a Petroleum-free Heat Transfer Fluid Developed with DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products at AHR Expo
Bio-based, sustainable heat transfer fluids demonstrate advanced performance in thermal systems
Branford, CT, January 12, 2016 - When it comes to harnessing the power of the sun for thermal solutions, one of the main reasons to switch is the desire to move away from fossil fuels. However when you look at these systems holistically, it quickly becomes apparent that most systems are filled with heat transfer fluids that are petroleum-based. To address this concern, SolarUS has partnered with DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products to create a bio-based heat transfer fluid for solar systems. SolarUS will be highlighting this solar thermal equipment solution at The International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration (AHR) Exposition, January 24 - 26, in Orlando.
"Newer bio-based alternative glycols not only move us toward a more sustainable solution but they have advanced technical properties and functionality compared to petroleum-based counterparts," explains Steve Elkin, CEO, SolarUS Inc. "So-Blu heat transfer fluid is a newly designed bio-based performance heat transfer fluid specifically formulated for new solar thermal systems entering the market. These new systems produce much higher temperatures and demand a higher performing heat transfer fluid."
So-Blu heat transfer fluid was developed by a cooperative effort between SolarUS, a leading manufacturer and distributor of solar thermal equipment, and DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products, the manufacturer of Susterra® bio-based glycol. It is designed for the extreme temperature variations experienced in todays solar thermal systems yet it offers the HVAC industry a non-toxic fluid that is petroleum-free and ensures safe use in domestic hot water systems as well as multiple heating and cooling applications.
