GEV Wind Power opens US office to support its clients with innovative cost saving O&M solutions

A leading provider of maintenance to the wind energy sector, GEV Wind Powers Houston office will serve as a central hub for Americas thriving wind energy sector.

GEV Wind Power is launching into the American market with the opening of a Houston office. Exhibiting at this years AWEA wind power conference in New Orleans; the company will mark the launch by showcasing its in-house developed, patented and award winning technology, together with pioneering maintenance initiatives.

A leading provider of maintenance to the wind energy sector, GEV Wind Powers Houston office will serve as a central hub for Americas thriving wind energy sector.

The US market has an installed wind capacity of over 74,000 MW*, with investment into wind power since 2008 reaching $100 billion**. The O&M US market is expected to reach $19bn by 2020***.

Committed to developing O&M efficiencies to drive down the cost of turbine maintenance, the team from GEV Wind Power will be showcasing its range of cost reducing services and innovations at AWEA 2016 (Booth 3855).

Visitors to the stand will see a fully operational GEV Wind Power Maintenance Habitat, a live demo of the I-RIS intelligent maintenance software and ground based camera equipment for high resolution blade damage analysis.

GEV Wind Power has invented and developed a patented habitat solution that retrofits to market available access platforms. This creates the perfect protective working environment for blade maintenance and repairs to be completed, unhindered by climatic conditions.

Maintenance productivity is increased exponentially and with the added benefit of 24 hour working, Clients are able to meet budgetary targets and eliminate the cost uncertainty of weather downtime.

David Fletcher, managing director of GEV Group comments: "Our wind habitat structure mitigates the weather risk and enables engineers, once on-site, to work unhindered in a controlled environment. The Habitat is a big step forward in meeting owners power generation targets through reducing standby days during periods of bad weather".

GEVs tablet based Intuitive Reporting and Inspection System (I-RIS) technology and proprietary software digitizes field processes and activities to improve safety, quality and technician efficiency and is subsequently instrumental in effective field operations.

Faster troubleshooting and real time communication helps identify root causes quicker and consequently results in the faster return to service for clients. In turn, owners experience more energy production and a reduction of turbine downtime.

Damage and repair imagery, timesheet information and task reporting are all captured at the point of field activity; reducing the time spent on manual back office processes that have historically delayed the information flow to clients.

The Panoblade camera system rapidly captures high resolution images of an entire turbine blade surface, alleviating the need for ‘hands on inspection. Significant productivity gains are made as GEV Wind Power can inspect up to 5 turbines a day meaning that the assessment of a wind farm can be completed in weeks rather than months

David Fletcher continues: "Our aim is to continually bring innovation to the wind industry and play our part in driving down the cost of energy in the US, and our fixed price maintenance plans together with the introduction of new technologies means owners across the US can capitalize on the savings that GEV Wind Power has to offer."

A leading provider of maintenance to the wind energy sector, GEV Wind Power's Houston office will serve as a central hub for America's thriving wind energy sector. The Group has demonstrated a track record of providing infrastructure support to its client base with an established UK regional footprint, where it is already represented in the key wind farm deployment locations of Hull, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft and Aberdeen. The move into the US is a natural development to support clients as they expand overseas.

GEV Wind Power will be exhibiting throughout AWEA conference (23rd - 26th May), visitors are invited to booth 3855 where the GEV Wind Power team will be on hand to answer industry specific questions and discuss the benefits GEV Wind Power is set to bring to the US wind energy market.
