Kumbaya, Inc., Formerly Known as Powerstorm ESS, Changes Name to Better Reflect the Company's Global Outlook and Focus on Humanitarian Technology

By providing poor, resource-constrained countries with power, the company hopes to continue to improve and enhance the lives of those at the bottom of the economic pyramid.

Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. January 16, 2017. Effective as of January 1, 2017 Powerstorm ESS, a global humanitarian technology company, has changed their name to Kumbaya, Inc., to more closely reflect their global humanitarian technology mission to improve lives, connect people and eliminate energy inequality in emerging markets.

Today, a regular and reliable supply of power is taken for granted in developed countries. However, many underdeveloped nations have yet to experience the benefits of modern energy and in places such as Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, India and Latin America, it is considered a luxury. Without switching on the light bulb, these poor populations still remain in the dark. Kids go to school but cannot learn well due to poor lighting conditions; households are in danger from indoor air pollution without access to clean cooking; lives are at risk in hospitals without power; and small businesses, which account for over 90% of the private sector, cannot operate optimally - all due to the lack of electricity. Kumbaya, Inc.s goal is to address the needs of rural, off-grid homes without access to electricity, lighting and connectivity, as well as ensure affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.

Mike Freni, CEO and Chairman of Kumbaya, Inc. states: "A name can be a very powerful tool, especially when it comes to a company. It becomes the face of your business and everything associated with it. This is why we made the decision to go forward with the name change." He continues: "Our intent is to better represent not only what drives the company, but also how our mission, vision and goals will be acted upon: to light up and power the most vulnerable populations, so that children and adults can study long after the sun goes down and get a good education; alert household members of poor air quality/indoor air pollution that could save lives; accelerate economic transformation; unlock business potential and drive much needed industrialization to create jobs, so people can earn a decent living."
