UPS adds 200 more hybrids to fleet

United Parcel Service (UPS) has added an additional 200 hybrid delivery vehicles to its fleet of low-emissions and alternative energy vehicles. With this latest addition, UPS now has more than 20,000 green vehicles in its fleet! The 200 new HEV package cars are expected to reduce fuel consumption by roughly 176,000 gallons over the course of a year compared to an equivalent number of traditional diesel trucks. The hybrids also should reduce by 1,786 metric tons the amount of CO2 gases released annually into the atmosphere.

Sea Change: Recommendations For Offshore Wind Farms

Though North America lags Europe on the wind energy front, with less cumulative installed capacity despite a vast geographical size difference, growth is strong and has only scratched the surface. Huge potential, particularly, exists in offshore installations, which represent just a small percentage of global wind capacity to date. Ocean-based turbines, both floating and fixed, take advantage of powerful, more consistent wind speeds and a topography that doesn't obstruct wind flow.

What Size Air Conditioner Do I Need?

Many people mistakenly buy larger air conditioning units than they need because they believe that a larger unit will both operate and cool their house more efficiently. In truth, a larger unit could be less efficient.

In Support of Wind Energy: The Foundations that Underlie Wind Projects

Foundations are critical to the success of a wind turbine project, and since foundation types are as varied as the earth conditions and types of structures being supported, we examine below some of the considerations involved in foundation selection such as siting, cost, and geotechnology.
