With the announcement of President Donald Trump's decision in the Section 201 solar trade case, raising tariffs on solar cells and modules, Julia Hamm, President and CEO of the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA), has released the following statement.
The decision effectively will cause the loss of roughly 23,000 American jobs this year, including many in manufacturing, and it will result in the delay or cancellation of billions of dollars in solar investments.
The announcement marks the highest annual development yet of wind capacity for the nine-year-old company.
Wind chasers fly high: a new initiative is set to improve how industry predicts wind speed as the University of Bristol and Lloyd's Register partner technical expertise with science to help generate better data on wind farm performance.
A new initiative will test scientific minds with the latest technology options to increase the quality, accuracy and access to data used in monitoring and predicting wind trends.
The seminar event was organized by the China Internal Combustion Engine Association and supported by China's Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Department of International Affairs of China Association for Science and Technology.

Utility Business Models Must Evolve To Meet Modern Needs and Opportunities, New Rocky Mountain Institute Report Says
Electric utilities operating within an increasingly distributed and decarbonized power system must evolve their business models to determine both the appropriate range of services they can efficiently provide, and the role third-party providers have to play in the energy ecosystem to best meet the demands of customers, according to a new report by Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI).
Polysilicon in China dropped consecutively for two straight weeks as strong selling pressure in the downstream wafer sector has crept into the market. The price of polysilicon for multi-crystalline wafer were obviously under pressured as many polysilicon buyers started canceling their original polysilicon orders and cutting their production utilization rate amid waning downstream demand. However, high purity polysilicon for the use of mono-crystalline wafer remained tight as major mono-crystalline wafer makers in the stage of aggressive capacity expansion has yet to slow down their pace of procurement to build strategic ingot inventory, continuing to push the price for high purity polysilicon higher amid RMB appreciation. As polysilicon prices were now above the market's affordability and the market sentiment clearly dwindled, more Chinese buyers struggled to keep their pace of procurement growth.
