New appointments support A123s global expansion plans

LIVONIA, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A123 Systems LLC, a developer and manufacturer of advanced lithium-ion batteries and systems, today announced the appointment of two executive leaders who will assist the company in its plan to more than double manufacturing capacity worldwide over a two year period. Peter Cirino, has joined A123 as the President of Europe and Scott Pepin as the Chief Human Resource Officer.


Approximately one year ago, A123 announced a series of business expansion initiatives totaling more than $300 Million in capital investments in its global facilities and business conditions have now required an acceleration of that plan. Demand for the companys products in Europe and China is particularly strong. With the hiring of Mr. Cirino and Mr. Pepin, A123 is continuing to develop its organization to facilitate such growth.

Peter Cirino will lead the European business and be responsible for the launch of A123s new Ostrava, Czech Republic facility, which is on target to begin production later this year. He served many years in senior roles at TE Connectivity and has outstanding international experience including past positions in multiple different countries.

Scott Pepin will lead all HR activities for A123 worldwide. His distinguished career includes over 20 years of progressive responsibility in human resources at Federal Mogul, culminating as the senior vice president for HR globally.
