Leading Solar Power System Provider Hits 100 Million kWh Generated and Makes Key Executive Appointments

June 26, 2006 - PowerLight Corporation reached a record milestone in June 2006 - the generation of a cumulative 100 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of clean electricity - the most solar PV power installed and generated by any single system provider. As the company enters its second decade, it is building on years of steady success and exceptional growth - entering new markets, appointing key executives to its management team, and expanding sales and operations overseas.

"PowerLight is thrilled to be providing clean, reliable solar power to hundreds of terrific customers and to reach this important milestone," said CEO and chairman, Tom Dinwoodie. "For years, PowerLight has consistently delivered high-quality, large-scale solar power systems and energy services to private and public sector customers such as FedEx, Microsoft, Toyota, Alameda County, California, and the City and County of San Francisco. More widespread use of solar power is critical to achieving a sustainable, environmentally safer planet; we're pleased to be a part of this effort."

In recent months, PowerLight has expanded its business globally, opening a European management office overseas in Geneva, Switzerland and deploying large-scale solar power plants throughout Europe. The company also appointed key individuals to the senior management team, including a new Chief Financial Officer, Michael Armsby, General Counsel, Bruce Ledesma, General Manager Europe, Marco Northland, Vice President Marketing, Brian Stone, and Vice President Projects, Kevin Hennessy.

"These additions to our management team bring a wealth of public and private company experience that will serve PowerLight well as the company continues its rapid growth," noted Dinwoodie. "These executives are focused on enhancing PowerLight's financial position, optimizing our operations, and helping to drive profitable growth as a part of our expansion plans. These are extraordinary challenges given the changing dynamics of the solar power industry, and we're confident that the executives on the PowerLight team will position the company for future success."

In recent years, PowerLight has received many accolades for its accomplishments as a successful company in the renewable energy market. These include being presented with an Ernst & Young Sustainable Entrepreneur of the Year Award, as well as being inducted into the Inc. 500 Hall of Fame. For five consecutive years, Inc. Magazine has recognized PowerLight as one of the U.S.'s fastest growing private companies. In 2005, PowerLight completed the largest solar photovoltaic power system in the world, a 10MW solar tracking system in Bavaria, Germany.

An even larger system —the 11MW Serpa Solar Power Plant, financed by GE— broke ground this month and will be completed in Portugal early next year.

"We're very proud that PowerLight continues to be an important contributor to increasing the reliability and success of renewable energy sources and to making solar power a mainstream source of the world's energy supply," said Dan Shugar, president. "Our exceptional growth over the last several years reflects the fact that solar power is being sought by businesses, government agencies, and homeowners to meet their energy needs."
