Cenex to host 'Naturally Gas' Conference and Exhibition

Promoting the production and use of methane in low carbon automotive applications Holywell Park, Loughborough University, Tuesday, 1st May 2007

Loughborough,11th April 2007 - Cenex, the UK's first national centre of excellence for low carbon and fuel cell technologies, is hosting a one-day conference and exhibition, 'Naturally Gas', at Holywell Park, Loughborough University, Leicestershire, on Tuesday 1st May.

The conference, to be hosted in partnership with the Natural Gas Vehicle Association (NGVA) and the National Society for Clean Air and Environmental Protection (NSCA), is based on promoting the production and use of methane and bio-methane in low carbon automotive applications.

The conference also marks the launch of the National Forum on Bio-Methane as a Road Transport Fuel. With a growing pressure on the UK fuel market to find alternatives to fossil fuels for long-term stability and environment friendliness, reducing CO2 emissions has become one of the key factors to achieve this. Using Bio-Methane as a transport fuel could be of great significance in realising this goal. The forum will discuss the potential of Bio-Methane and its future applications.

The conference will include presentations related to vehicle, waste management and hydrogen technologies by speakers from a wide spectrum of low carbon and transport industries as well as government and local authority policy advisors. The main highlights of the programme will be current CNG, LNG and Biogas Technologies; Regulatory Policies Framework and Renewable Fuels Obligations; Experience of Natural Gas users in the Automotive Sector; Anaerobic Digestion and Sustainable Waste Management; Hydrogen Technology Strategies; Business Opportunities and KTN Link-Ups.

Speaking about the target potential of the event, Robert Evans, CEO, Cenex said: "The conference will bring together some of the industry's most respected figures in an intimate networking environment and will provide an unmatched opportunity for environment policy-makers to discuss the the future uses of methane in low carbon automotive applications.''

The event will further help maximise the effectiveness of the Low Carbon and Fuel Cell Technology Knowledge Transfer Network (www.lowcarbonfuelcellktn.org.uk) by promoting communication and knowledge transfer between the many organisations interested in alternative automotive fuel applications.

Key companies represented at this event will be: NGVA, Hardstaff Group, Clean Air Power, CompAir, TBC, STS Consultants, Renewable Energy Association (REA), Greenwich Council, Greater London Authority (GLA), Active Compost, NISP and the Imperial College.

More information on the conference can be found at: www.cenex.co.uk/news-industryevents.asp. Companies are welcome to join the forum at the delegate fee of £100 for NSCA and NGVA members and £150 for non-members. To register, please contact Caroline Haine, Marketing Manager, on 01926 450 459.
