Robust Proven Energy wind turbines set for Hong Kong's unpredictable weather conditions

Proven Energy has sold four 2.5kW wind turbines to Hongkong Electric. Hongkong Electric is responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of power to Hong Kong Island & Lamma Islands. The four installations comprise of two rooftop 2.5kW wind turbines and two land 2.5kW wind turbines. The rooftop installations have a total capacity of 5kW which makes this the largest rooftop installation of wind turbines in Hong Kong. Located on the roof of a sub-station within the famous Hong Kong harbour skyline, the wind turbines blend into the surrounding landscape. All four wind turbines are connected to the grid and are ideal for both urban and remote locations. This advancement in generating renewable energy minimises the environmental impact by lowering carbon emissions and provides a sustainable energy solution.

Hong Kong suffers from unpredictable weather whereby Typhoons and high winds constantly threaten. Proven Energy wind turbines has a unique feature whereby it continues to produce energy in high winds without cutting out, unlike other wind turbines that may cut-out or have to be stopped.

Keith Chapman, Specialist Installer from Rooftop Turbines said "The two rooftop installations are a first for Hong Kong. Other wind turbines with a capacity of a few hundred watts have been installed on a roof but to date these are the first of this size to be installed on a commercial/public building's roof".
