LANCASTER, N.Y., September 30, 2010 - Ecology and Environment, Inc., (E & E) (NASDAQ: EEI) announces its participation in the 15th annual Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) Green Buildings Open House on Saturday, October 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Operating in conjunction with the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) National Solar Tour, the Green Buildings Open House is the largest sustainable energy event in the Northeastern United States, highlighting energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions in buildings from Maine to Pennsylvania. Providing authentic examples of sustainable building in one's local community, the event aims to inspire individuals to consider and implement these solutions in their own homes and businesses.

E & E's 64,000-square-foot headquarters building is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Platinum certified structure under the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB) rating system. The company achieved an 80% reduction in carbon emissions associated with the building's energy use at a net cost savings in less than ten years by implementing a series of infrastructure improvements and directly engaging employees in energy efficiency practices.

"It is critical that we find ways to become more energy efficient and less dependent on finite energy sources, especially when it comes to our buildings," said E & E president and CEO Kevin Neumaier. "We're pleased to play a role in this year's NESEA Green Buildings Open House, showcasing our global headquarters building, which was ahead of its time when it was built in 1988 and continues to be a model for green design."

"NESEA is committed to any and all measures that increase the adoption of clean energy solutions and improved energy efficiency," said Jennifer Marrapese, NESEA executive director. "Nothing breeds success like success. When people see for themselves how families and businesses in their own communities are saving energy—and money—sustainable technologies and strategies become much more accessible. And that, ultimately, is our goal."
