The meeco Group completes first off-grid residential system in Angola

30 kW/80 kWh solar hybrid installation reduces diesel generator use by 80 percent

Zug/Luanda. The Swiss-based meeco Group has finalized its first sun2liveTM off-grid installation in Angola, situated in Praia do Sangano near Cabo Ledo, 120 km south of Luanda. This turnkey installation, which combines a 30 kWp solar photovoltaic generator and an 80 kWh lithium battery system, supported by a structure custom-built on-site, is a perfect example of a sun2liveTM energy solution. The newly installed 24/7 solar and energy storage residential system, which includes a 65 kWh back up generator, now allows the owner to be fully self-sufficient and carbon free when it comes to power supply and energy management.

This sun2live solution, which was fully developed and installed by The meeco Group, has the particularity of being architecturally-integrated into the house. Michael Georg, Head of Project Implementation for The meeco Group explains the challenge: ‘Since the villa is situated on the Atlantic coast, we had to make sure the installation respected its architecture and was robust enough to support local wind loads as well as the rough sea climate. We ended up building a custom tailored supporting structure that takes advantage of terrain level differences, is reliable and provides additional shade.'

Using 240 Wp Bosch monocrystalline modules and a Durion lithium energy storage system as main components, this solution is expected to produce 54,000 kWh per year and save over 26 Tons of CO2 emissions per year. ‘This project reference is a very important step for The meeco Group in a market which still predominantly uses diesel generators as off-grid power supply. We trust that this installation will convince companies as well as private homeowners to invest in sustainable power generation systems such as sun2liveTM,' explains Peer-Olav Schmidt, meeco's representative for Portugal and Angola.
