Africa: Schneider Electric launches the largest ever survey into counterfeit electrical products in Africa

37 interviewers over a two-month period, 300 professionals questioned

PARIS, France, February 20, 2014/ -- Schneider Electric (http://www.schneider-electric.com), global specialist in energy management, today announced that it is behind the largest ever survey into counterfeit electrical products in Africa.


This unprecedented survey involved 37 interviewers over a two-month period. Over 300 professionals were questioned, including electricians, retailers of electrical goods, installers, officials (customs, police, etc.), firemen and doctors, each of whom responded to 35 questions pertaining to counterfeit electrical products in Africa.

This survey will notably help answer the following questions:

* What are the main consequences of electrical counterfeiting on the health and economy of African countries?

* Where are the counterfeit electrical goods coming from?

* Who are the main customers for these counterfeit electrical products?

Initial findings from the survey are due for publication before the end of March.
