Solar Generator Company Aims to Raise Preparedness Awareness

A Harrisonburg Virginia based solar generator company is offering a series of educational quizzes and a chance to win preparedness prizes in April.

HARRISONBURG, VA. (April 9, 2014)A Harrisonburg-based solar generator manufacturer is sponsoring a month-long promotion in April geared to not only offer participants a chance to win prize packs that include an energy monitor and emergency supply kit, but an opportunity to test their knowledge of portable solar power. SUNRNR of Virginia, Inc.'s "Spring into Preparedness & Sustainability Sweepstakes" will feature three quizzes of increasing difficulty and cover topics ranging from the impact of power outages to energy storage to what kinds of machinery/devices portable solar can accommodate.

"We believe that raising the public's awareness about the many ways portable solar can facilitate improved preparedness and sustainability is critically important to the overall ability of our community to respond to emergencies and natural disasters. The more educated and prepared individual citizens are the less strain on response systems. We hope that by making this sweepstakes a fun and potentially rewarding experience, more people will take the necessary steps to be prepared in an affordable and sustainable way," said SUNRNR principal Jenny French.

The promotion is part of SUNRNR's commitment to educate consumers about energy issues, consumption and conservation as well as championing the relationship of solar to preparedness and sustainability. To date, the combined potential power produced by SUNRNR units sold is equivalent to 100,000 gallons of fossil fuel consumed by comparable gas generators – a potential carbon footprint reduction of 900 tons of CO2 from emissions and another 250-ton reduction from non-grid-generated power.

With applications worldwide, the Frenches are exploring export, particularly to developing countries and at deep discounts in support of relief efforts during catastrophic disasters. International sales of SUNRNR products are currently the focus of two James Madison University capstone projects.

The sweepstakes and more information about SUNRNR can be found at www.sunrnr.com or by contacting Jenny French at jennyf@sunrnr.com, 540.271.3403 or Scott French at scottf@sunrnr.com, 540.271.3403.
