Hydropower making strides

The RENEXPO® HYDRO, the leading hydropower trade fair for Austria, Germany, Switzerland and South Tyrol will take place from November 27th-29th, 2014 for the sixth year in a row in the Messezentrum Salzburg.

Salzburg, May 5th, 2014 "Water is not a commercial product like any other but, rather, a heritage which must be protected, defended and treated as such." So reads the first preliminary to the EU Water Framework Directive as a guiding framework for setting water policy in the European Community. Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Parliament and Council.

The RENEXPO® HYDRO, the leading hydropower trade fair for Austria, Germany, Switzerland and South Tyrol will take place from November 27th-29th, 2014 for the sixth year in a row in the Messezentrum Salzburg. With over 100 exhibitors and 1,750 qualified visitors from over 10 countries, the event has grown into a market leader serving the heart of Europe.

The event strives to contribute to the future of energy by making it innovative, ecological, affordable and dependable.

The RENEXPO® HYDRO trade fair promotes an intensive dialog on the dynamic of protecting key water resources and using them responsibly by presenting the technical innovations of its exhibitors, offering conferences on vitally relevant themes and facilitating open discussions on the newest insights into the sustainable and ecological development of our various water resources. Only a sustainable use of water can guarantee that these vital water resources will be available long-term.

The RENEXPO® HYDRO conference offers developers, planners, project managers, investors, local communities, energy supplies, research institutes as well as political and commercial representatives a unique platform for presenting new insights, exchanging knowledge and experience and making new contacts in a thorough two day event. Special excursions for specialists are also included in the conference program.

Several trade associations, media partners, universities (including the Vienna University of Technology and the Graz University of Technology) as well as engineering firms from Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Italy (South Tyrol), the State of Salzburg and the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce all play an active role in the conception and development of the event.

The trade fair will encompass the topics of ecological sustainability of hydropower by focusing on ways to avoid using the entire width of rivers and streams in order to produce power by implementing the goal of the EU Water Framework Directive by "promoting sustainable water use based on a long-term protection of available water resources" (WFD Art. 1, lit b). The technical feasibility and the ecological know-how are already available, as several successful projects have shown.

Vecoplan - Planning and implementation of complete processing plants in refuse derived fuel production

In order to reduce the costs involved in the energy-intensive production of cement, many manufacturers are turning to refuse-derived fuels (RDF), considerably reducing the proportion of expensive primary fuels they would normally use. Solid fuels are being increasingly used - these might be used tyres, waste wood or mixtures of plastics, paper, composite materials and textiles. Vecoplan provides operators of cement plants with proven and robust components for conveying the material and separating iron and impurities, efficient receiving stations, storage systems and, of course, efficient shredders for an output in various qualities.
