CPD seminar explores new heat network funding and regulations

Private sector developers and consultants can gain CPD points at free heat network seminar in Manchester

Funding for private sector heat network development, new regulations, quality and compliance standards, will be discussed at a lunchtime seminar at Manchester Central convention centre on Friday 17th May.

Heat network specialist Switch2 Energy is inviting consultants and private developers to the free CPD UK accredited workshop, which will cover the latest regulatory issues and opportunities affecting the fast-growing district and community heating sector.

Guest speaker Samantha Crichton, a consultant for Ecuity, which is part of the Heat Networks Investment Programme (HNIP) delivery team, will explain how private sector developers can access the £320m government fund.

Ian Allan, Head of Market Strategy for Switch2 Energy, will brief delegates on the government's plan to regulate heat networks - following recommendations by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). He will also explain the steps that developers and consultants need to take to meet the minimum standards of the Heat Network Compliance Scheme, which is based on the CIBSE/ADE code of practice CP1.

His presentation will also include a briefing on the legislative requirements of the Heat Network (Metering and Billing) Regulations, which means that it is crucial to consider metering and billing at the earliest stages of the design and planning process.

Ian Allan said: "The recent opening up of HNIP funding to the private sector creates exciting opportunities for developers, who will gain the latest insights from HNIP delivery team member Ecuity. We will also brief delegates on new heat network regulatory issues and design and development standards, which are so crucial to developing successful and compliant district heating schemes."

Further speakers will be added to the agenda in the coming weeks.

The free seminar will take place at Manchester Central from 12.30pm to 3.30pm, including lunch. All delegates will receive a recognised certificate of attendance and gain CPD points through Switch2 Energy's accreditation by the CPD certification service.
