Alternative Energy Project Financing

If storage costs can demonstrate price reductions comparable to what we've experienced with wind and solar, storage will be a big part of the story.

Batteries Get a Boost From California Utilities

If we stop and take a critical look at the fragility of our energy supply system, we see that it could be strengthened by distributing energy generation and storage. This means it's not just the utility company's job to store energy… it's everyone's job.

Energy Storage North America Announces Innovation Award Finalists

Winners for each category will be determined by the ESNA Advisory Board (50%) as well as public voting (50%).

Could A Lithium Shortage De-Rail The Electric Car Boom?

Lithium has the purest of fundamentals of any 'commodity' out there, and the next oil barons look set to actually be lithium barons.

AltEnergyMag.com - Special Tradeshow Coverage of Solar Power International 2016

Solar Power International 2016 will take place from September 12th to 15th in Las Vegas, Nevada. This AltEnergyMag.com Special Tradeshow report aims to bring you news, articles and products from this years events.

Why Lithium Will See Another Price Spike This Fall

With Albermarle's new mine in Nevada and Tesla's forecast 2018 demand of between 25,000 and 35,000 TPA, the U.S. Southwest is becoming a new hotbed for the lithium industry.

Using Silicon in Lithium Ion Batteries to Increase Capacity

A key attribute of silicon in lithium ion batteries (LIB) is the higher capacity that Si can offer which leads to greater electric vehicle driving range or longer operating consumer electronics.

Super Battery Technology

Laboratory testing of the company's novel prototype cathode material have yielded a set of critical data that translates into significant lithium-ion battery performance projections for BioSolar to target.

Are Microgrids Catching On?

The real trick to opening the floodgates on microgrids is clear regulatory language that allows microgrid developers to serve the needs of an organization or community while also making the local electric utility whole for their services and investment.

The "Redox" Principle

The energy density of the nanoFlowcell® is currently 20 times higher than that of a lead accumulator. This means the stored energy provides a range 20 times higher than with a battery of the same weight.

Very Large Lithium-ion Batteries

In the case of the relatively new market for very large, ground-based lithium-ion battery packs for such things as grid peak shaving, weight is not a primary issues, volume can matter somewhat but life, cost over life, performance and reliability matter greatly.

Storage Solutions for Alternative Energy

One obstacle that is holding back adoption to renewables is the lack of any efficient means of storing this energy. However, some highly innovative solutions might be able to help solve the issue of preserving alternative energy for long-term use.

Middle Schoolers Dream Big with Their Solar and Battery Powered Cars

The race, sponsored by the Energy Department, its National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the Alliance for Sustainable Energy, Jeffco Public Schools, and Dakota Ridge High School, is designed to boost interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields.

Flex-Core - Flexible Split-Core Current Transformer

Flex-Core - Flexible Split-Core Current Transformer

The FCL model split-core current transformers have multiple benefits, including a flexible twisting motion for ease of application. Installing a split-core CT means there is no need to disconnect your primary conductor(s) which reduces downtime. Many customizations are available including extended secondary lead wire lengths, various outputs including 5A, 1A, 1VAC, and 0.333VAC, and custom rubber inserts to help center the CT and maintain accuracy. The FCL models can be used in applications up to 720VAC and have an operating frequency from 50Hz to 400Hz.
