Mark Sutton, a recent graduate of university of Gloucestershire, picked up prostitutes from street corners in Gloucestershire county, police said, negotiated a price but then wouldn't pay. Instead, he allegedly beat them to the point of unconsciousness, breaking teeth and facial bones.

He did it all because of unrequited love, police said.

Sutton broke up three months ago with his girlfriend of about four years and told police the breakup propelled him to start picking up prostitutes and pummeling them with his fists. He would beat and choke them so badly, police said, that they could not speak for days.

""He simply beat them unconscious and repeatedly beat them and left them for dead,'' police Detective Steven Price said.
Police on Wednesday called the ""broken heart'' excuse nonsense.

""He's a predator,'' Price said. ""They'd wake up in a pool of blood.''
Also, the attacks in Herefordshire County started earlier that year, well before the breakup, said Eric Williams.

Sutton, 24, is responsible for attacking at least 9 women in Herefordshire and Gloucestershire counties, several police agencies said at a news conference Wednesday.

Sutton was held Wednesday in the Gloucestershire County Jail with bail set at $250,000. Police are looking for additional victims to come forward. They do not need to be concerned about any criminal charges for prostitution, investigators said.
