Selectpower offers FREE energy-saving workshops

January 12, 2006, Guelph, ON - Selectpower is launching a series of Energy-Smart' workshops designed to help home-owners learn ways to save energy, and save money.

The first in the series, Energy-Smart Heating, is scheduled for the morning of January 21, 2006 at the Selectpower Energy Store located at 381 Elmira Road North in Guelph. Workshop topics include: saving money with a high-efficiency furnace, government energy-efficiency grants, ductless heating systems, and maximizing energy savings with insulation and air-sealing.

"Everybody knows that using less energy saves money, but home owners often don't know where to start," says Selectpower Energy Services Manager Leslie Thomas. "We're hoping that this series of workshops will provide home owners with 'bite-sized' pieces of information and helpful tools so they can take control of their energy bills, and make their homes more comfortable."

Each workshop will also highlight how saving electricity, water and natural gas can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lower a home's ecological footprint. "There's a connection between energy and our environment, and we hope to show people how easy it is to make a positive impact while saving money and increasing the comfort and value of their home," says Thomas.
