Aug. 2013 Detroit Battery Seminar: Johnson Controls & Navigant Research Join the Guest Speaker Panel

Join us for this two-day exciting event and enjoy informal discussions, interactive Q&As, a facility tour (Intertek battery test facility), an evening cocktails reception, complimentary meals, networking, and much more. Speakers come from A123, Chrysler, Johnson Controls, Navigant, LG Chem, etc.

Unlike conventional battery conferences this event is unique, where there won't be several people speaking in short 20 to 25 minute intervals and mostly making marketing pitches to attendees. Rather, we have an industry veteran electro-chemist - Dr. Paul Gifford - who will speak on Day 1 on several aspects of battery design, raw materials, and some recent R&D efforts in Li Ion batteries. He's an independent consultant with an unbiased opinion, and is not associated with any specific battery technology or company.

His presentations will be well complemented by our guest speakers on Day 2 from the industry and academia, including Wayne State University, A123 Systems, Chrysler, LG Chem, Navigant Research, Johnson Controls, Intertek, NextEnergy and Clean Energy Trust.

They will be speaking about Advanced Energy Systems (AESS) Initiatives, Department of Energy (DOE)'s major research partnership Energy Storage Hub (JCESR) based at Argonne National Labs, Vehicle Battery Requirements and Developments from the perspective of USABC, Goals of A123 Venture Technologies, etc.

Day 1 also offers attendees an opportunity to participate in a guided tour of Intertek battery performance and safety test lab, which supports environmental simulation, vibration, durability, battery performance and abuse, and electrical safety certification testing.

Day 2 will also cover an overview of the mandatory UN Transportation Tests for lithium ion batteries - UN 38.3 - its test requirements and interpretations, with focus on latest version of requirements, and interpreting these for each application, especially for large format batteries.
